  1. Remember AMC went to Brian Wood because they wanted to work with him on a series, he pitched them the concept of Briggs Land before the first issue was even released and they loved it. Wood has stated he envisions this to be a long term series, more so than his others, dependent on how well it sells. Of course with AMC green lighting a series based on a comic book property before a single issue is released shows they have faith in it. The pilot episode Wood's has stated should cover elements from the first four issues. Some stores ordered heavy, some stores didn't. Dark Horse titles can sometimes easily get overlooked. When the first issue was solicited, it was under the "Television Show in Development" tag line so not sure if retailers even noticed that or if they were wrapped up in ordering other titles. We will have to wait and see, if the show does well, it only can help the sales of the comic and the value of the first issue, etc but also how the series progresses too. Saga wasn't a huge hit when it first came out either, it took several issues, and The Walking Dead took a long time as well. Not saying Briggs Land could be like those, but it could do quite well later on down the road. Time will tell, I for one enjoyed the first issue too.
  2. I met Jason about two or three years ago, incredibly nice guy. I don't really feel we need a reboot of the Crow film, but if it comes to be (finally), I think Jason could pull it off.
  3. Pretty much dead on accurate. It would not surprise me if Aspen has sat back and watched their first two Turner variants (Batman and Spider-Man) sell out fast and have some people reselling for a lot more on eBay, something I don't frown upon but also can understand the other side's argument about advertising books as a certain condition before they have them. I believe I read somewhere Aspen was going to have an allotment of the Justice League #1 variant at SDCC, and while they have said the print run has increased, it would not surprise me if the color cover will have 5000 made, and the sketch cover have 3000 made. Increasing the print run and limiting the books per customer will at the same time make it so more collectors/fans can have them in their collection but also should see the prices not spike so high. In many ways everyone wins, more fans get it, and Aspen sees more revenue. I am just curious if some of the proceeds are going to Turner's family, I have not really been following these variants but hopefully the Turner family is seeing some of this money.
  4. Nice piece in your collection, I bet those are quite hard to find in that condition too.
  5. Thanks guys for the kind words about the sketch, always enjoy sharing as I get new stuff added to the book, it's been a while since generally at cons I am set up at I don't have much free time to get any in there.
  6. Congrats, a 9.8! That is one beautiful looking copy.
  7. Been a while since I have been able to add to my Crow sketchbook but managed to get Jim Lee to do his rendition of the character. I had this done at an after show retailers seminar held during ECCC last week put on by DC Comics to discuss their upcoming Rebirth line. There weren't that many retailers who showed up to it, I got to go as a representative of my friend's store. I had never met Jim Lee before, so I was looking forward to it, having been a fan for 25 years. It was a laid back atmosphere, after the presentation DC catered it and Jim signed books for those who brought them and then I asked him if he would do a sketch in my sketchbook. He said he had been asked once before to do the character years ago but he said he can't remember if he had ever done it, so he thought that perhaps this was the first time he drew the character. He was really quite nice and very gracious with his time. It was the perfect setting because there were not many people there, I doubt I could have gotten this if it was at an actual convention.
  8. You may want to put why YOU feel it is suspicious rather than just linking the auction. Also, just the fact that the seller is openly putting his contact info and willing to sell off eBay is an eBay violation and that auction can easily be pulled by eBay if its reported.
  9. I had picked up my copies at his store since I was delivering there twice a week back when Diamond actually delivered comics to retailers that were not close to a distribution hub. I also think, and I could be wrong about this, was they included the letter of authenticity as one per order, not one per book, but again, it was long ago. But since it was before the days of the internet and really the only place to advertise was the weekly Comics Buyer's Guide newspaper I doubt there were more than 1000 copies signed. I know that each month the store would get multiple boxes of the issue, I wish I had asked more questions back then but I was a young guy not knowing better. I really wish I had gotten some sketches, or bought some original art, I remember he had some of his Detective Comics pages as low as a $100 at a small convention here once. Ugh.
  10. Hard to say but maybe. I was thinking The Emperor because I saw another variant cover by another artist and it featured The Emperor on it and unsure if The Emperor has appeared in the series yet, I have not had time to read my copies yet or perhaps The Emperor may have a big role in the upcoming 20th issue.
  11. I am pretty sure it came in at 3050, JTC announced that number a few days ago as well. It did take longer than anticipated to sell out, but could be because Poe didn't have a huge role in Force Awakens and also he is nowhere near as popular as Boba Fett.
  12. I still say Harrow County #1 is a good one to pick up, it is about $12-$18 on eBay now for a first printing of the first issue but if the television series is a faithful adaptation it will bring many new fans wanting to pick up the earlier issues.
  13. No problem and yes while I know there is probably a lot of signed ones by him I am curious how many legit ones that had the small stamp were done, it wasn't something I thought to ask at the time. I guess fakes would be an easy thing to do since the stamp wasn't anything super special and probably could be replicated, as could the letter of authenticity. Glad the info could help despite that you already knew of them. ;-)
  14. shvd98z24, I don't know if this would qualify to be added to your Spider-Man #1 list, but there was an exclusive Spider-Man #1 that came autographed by Todd McFarlane which came with a letter of authenticity and featured a small red spider's web stamp on the back of the issue. These were sold exclusively by the comic book store Todd and his brother-in-law owned called "The Spider's Web Card's & Comics" in Puyallup Washington back in the day. I am unsure how many copies were signed but this was all before the internet, so I have to assume not many were done. The letter of authenticity was pretty cheesy even featuring a spelling error that was crossed out, basically typed up on a typewriter or computer, hard to say. I have some still in my collection. But they were legit because I used to deliver the comics to his store as I worked for the distributor at the time and their store was on my route. Both guys were quite cool, Todd lived in Canada at the time but come down every once in awhile to do in-store signings. I spent hours with just him and me once talking about what later would become Image as well as got to look at all his preliminary sketches of what became Spawn and heard all about his ideas. We also talked about his Amazing Spider-Man run and I remember him showing me what he didn't like about some of his work on them, etc. A few years ago I ran into him here in Seattle and he came up and gave me a big hug and we talked about how his family was doing, etc. Fond memories indeed, overall a really great guy.
  15. I had read that the print run on B/W Poe #1 was 3050 copies, where did you hear it was 4000?
  16. If I hadn't seen your post, I probably would have missed this one. Is this the first ACP cover for the Darth Vader series since #1? Perhaps it will be The Emperor. I am going to need to find a checklist website to make sure I have all of them now with the exception of the B/W Luke, I missed that one and with only 250 made I probably won't see that one ever in my collection.
  17. It would not surprise me if we see an Image Expo exclusive variant early next month, #25 is due out in late April, would have made for a nice issue to have a variant but I doubt they would put out a variant for an issue not yet released officially.
  18. How much did it weigh? Would it have fit in the $6.99 Flat-Rate Envelope? It weighed a hair over a pound. It was a GN in a comic box (1" thick?) It would not fit with the comic book box. It was about the size of a slab. Just thicker. But I didn't want to pull it out of the box and repackage it. I wanted to be done with the not-part-of-my-job-description-task-my-boss-likes-to-give-me. I wanted it boxed because if it got damaged in shipping, I'd have no way of replacing the book. And I'd have been on the hook for the value. Other options are academic now. -Terry Terry, you can't blame the postal service in your instance. The cut-off for First Class is 13 ounces, your package weighed over a pound so that is why First Class wasn't offered. If it was a book that did not contain advertising you could have shipped it Media Mail and would only have cost a few dollars however Media Mail is very slow and Media Mail parcels can be opened for inspection, First Class can't, but in your case First Class was not an option because your parcel exceeded the First Class weight limit. While I have my issues with the postal service at times, in this case, there is no reason to be upset with them. Now though, as you may be aware, when you print a shipping label via eBay, the weight limit has been extended to parcels up to 16 ounces which is quite nice when people are shipping three or four comics, they can still fall under the 16 ounce limit but that is only if you are using eBay shipping labels
  19. I spoke to some exhibitors I know who set up as well as some friends who went, they said the show wasn't that good this year, show floor was pretty much dead on Friday and some of Sunday. Unsure of the attendance numbers, not even sure if WW releases that info.
  20. Another page from the same seller, someone mentioned them to James, I believe he said this page was from a dream sequence that was cut. http://www.ebay.com/itm/BRANDON-LEE-THE-CROW-ERIC-DRAVEN-ORIGINAL-ART-JAMES-OBARR-WITH-GABRIEL-C-O-A-/172086318632?hash=item281124d628:g:xnMAAOSwHaBWhd~3
  21. For those that watched the original series, you will probably remember the character of the Enigma who played on the episode featuring Jim Rose and members of his "Circus". That episode was called "Humbug", it was a great one. I went to school with the guy who is the Enigma, after high school he started tattooing his entire body with small blue puzzle pieces. Quite recognizable nowadays, odd, yes, but actually a pretty nice guy.
  22. I dont get on here as much I would like but hope everyone here is doing well. I have not added anything to my "Crow" sketchbook as of lately, I had an "artist" who is fairly well known set to do one but he bagged out and basically ripped me off. I won't name him but am tempted to, the email/Facebook messages exchange is still saved though. Just overall quite nasty. Generally when I am at a convention I am set up as an exhibitor so it doesn't give me much free time to get sketches as shows are getting bigger and that means busier. Last year I didn't get a single sketch at ECCC and this year's guest list so far only has one guest attending that I would like to get his interpretation of the character so I may contact him prior to the show to discuss. By the way James will be at the upcoming Wizard World show in Portland Oregon around the third week of February. If I have time I may venture down there to see him, I wish ECCC would bring him back, he loved the show here and its been quite a long time since he was here.

  24. My apologies for the delay, I need to figure out how to set it up so when someone comments it alerts me. Nothing new in my Crow sketchbook. Still kicking myself for selling my four original pages from issue #2. All four pages were in sequential order too. I know they are in good hands though and the buyers over the years greatly appreciated them. I am tempted to send in my original Caliber mini to CGC, I have never sent a book to CGC before, but I had mine signed by O' Barr before CGC was started and now it seems unless "they" witness it having them graded could potentially hurt the value. I had James sign them on the covers, unlike my Dark Knight Returns I had Frank Miller sign those on the inside front page, some say that won't hurt the value but having a signature on the cover will. I think its all BS, I know they are legit, and that is all that matters. Should I send them into CGC? Thoughts?
