  1. …and the other two? Agree with @Corvonie - very purrrdeee.
  2. Yes - that issue where he disfigures himself! Forgot about that - great story as well. I forget what issue that is...you'll get to that in the Fantasticast early on though - they have some REALLY interesting things to say about it - similar to your comments actually. And agree re the transition from PCH to FF is still happening in FF5. Also agree re posture and "esteem". Solid points Sir Corvonie.
  3. Haven't actually read this thing in a while - congrats again man!!! Seeing the images made me realize something I forgot: in the early (very early) issues, maybe only in FF5 and no further actually (?) Doom is portrayed like vulture - his body posture, the angles, the actual side-by-side to vulture splash -etc. What's "the deal" with that? I feel like that's an angle that was dropped early on that REALLY helped to add depth to the doom character - I loved those early versions. I wonder why it was dropped...
  4. I have never read it! OK, guess I'll buy a beater soon enough
  5. I'm curious to know if the character 2nd from the left a) has a name, b) was a regular character in this run, c) was of a particular race/nationality in the book...in short - this cover confuses me...
  6. Ok new question, if I may…favorite single issue FF storyline from the original Jack and Stan run? I’m torn between FF 24 (The Infant Terrible), FF8 (Puppet Master), and FF 21 (hate monger). But since I am forcing the issue, I will go with FF 24: The perfect blend of early Marvel superhero glory and remnants of quirky Strange Tales/TTA/TOS-type late 50s sci -fi humored storytelling from Stanley and Jacob.
  7. Would def take if I collected the run - very nice beater!
  8. Niiiice - I like your style. I also LOVE your handle. Perfection. Funny enough, I jusssssst picked up this FF12 from Joe - she’s not as high-grade as your wish list would require, but she presents plenty fine to this Preacher. Thanks again for a fair deal on a great book, Joe! @Math Teacher
  9. I claim this beauty per PM. Come to pappa… Thank you for the very fair exchange Joe!
  10. Yup - that 4.0 seems to be a perfect sweet spot for that book - nice, very nice.
  11. Gorgeous - a defect in the perfect spot for that cover. Colors are awesome and minimal marvel chipping.
  12. Interesting - I would’ve expected a couple of immediate responses for FF 1. I like the angles you guys have though @MattTheDuck and @KirbyJack - basically use that money to buy some truly high-quality goodies instead of a rag that 20 K would still barely cover in low Grade - ya? Actually though… now that I wrote that paragraph out… I’m second-guessing myself… it seems the more I say and type “FF1”… the more I find myself missing my old FF1 copy that was undergraded at 4.0 - it was so beautiful and so fun to read in hand…I was forced to sell when I was getting married for wedding funds 8 years ago - now I’m worried I can never afford a decent one again, given what the market has done in the last five years with FF. $10k seemed like soooooo much money back When I sold - hindsight is 2020 .. but hey — at least we still get to pick up some great books off the boards for relatively cheap! I’m very curious to hear what others in this thread would do with that 20 K too!
  13. Ok, a question to pose to this crew, if I may… If somebody gave you $20k and you could only spend that $20k on FF comics - what big FF book(s) would you choose to buy? I’m asking because somebody in our ranks may soon do just that (not me, but one can always dream). My vote is a sweet FF5. But I’m just a Doom Bot with not much imagination, so I’m curious to hear from the other FF lovers here.
  14. All three of you have offered sage advice, helpful critiques, and PLENTY of laughs along the way. You guys (oh ya…and those things called comic books) are constant reminders of why I missed the hobby I had left hanging for all too many years…This time - I’m here to stay. Whomever sent me this image (can’t remember who now…) had it just about right.
  15. I’ll let you talk it out with @lizards2. I feel like a Geek Disciple caught between two Jedi Masters - one hath a blue sword and the other…?
