Love hearing that - I always thought of Gene as the “cerebral” artist of the bullpen. His art was not always the sexiest, but if you paid close attention to the details…the “form” and especially the shadows he would use were unmatched. F-ing MASTER of shadows. The images he created always seemed to be doing more than just conveying an image. Many were metaphorical for me. Howard the Duck is an exceptional example of that - my personal fave. LOVE ME SOME GENE!
