  1. But honestly what are we talking here. We are acting like that is a $10k book.

It is rare and not easy to find but i wouldnt have paid $800. And ive bought rare and incredibly rare books.

Comcav just loves to say "ill take it" half the time hes not even looking hahaha.

So are we talking you lost $100? $200....omg $250? This isnt big money. Just send the guy the comic and lets move on before Karma catches you and stings you in the arzzzz

  2. One thing that we have debated on the boards is how far sellers should go to eat mistakes. When I priced the book, I tried to base it in large part on what I had paid myself, multiplied by x. I realized later that I had used the wrong amount. I mixed up the prices of two books that I had bought from the same dealer right around the same time. The book should have been priced higher, no question. I have eaten mistakes like that before, more than once, on a smaller scale, usually for the sake of good will.

The buyer had certainly seen the "+ actual shipping costs" in the original listing, so the wording of the note struck me as disingenuous. The note did not motivate me to want to eat a large pricing mistake for the sake of good will.

For the record, I would never cash someone's check and not ship a book.

Also, if ghosting means abandining the boards, I obviously haven't ghosted. I also haven't sold the book.

OK man. What price should it have been? And will you please just sell it to Comcav? Ill pay double the shipping to you so he can have the book. He wants it and is upset. WOuld be nice to make you both happy here and get this over with. What will it take?

  3. Jimbo_707 - I did not stop payment on the check. It will not bounce, and if you are concerned about that let's find a 3rd party to hold it in escrow. Never have, but really, you think I'll bounce a check on a case THIS high profile? hahaha. If you want another party to hold it, I'll pay all shipping costs therein. Any other potential weak excuses I can preempt?

I'll offer to be the intermediary if for some reason WooWoo is not acceptable. I am not worried about William's check, and I'll gladly send a bank check to Jimbo.

I'm hoping that the book was not sold elsewhere, because you've both always seemed like good guys and sometimes, a tone in writing, is not exactly what it would be in person.

In other words, I'm hoping it was all just a temporary error in judgement that can be worked out and no one will go on the probation list.

Sha....this is an open and shut case here. Cav won the comic. Seller got a better offer from another boardie here(who i would love it if he was a man and let us all know who he is) then proceeded to find any excuse to not sell to Comcav. Not cool, not what these boards are about and it doesnt matter if he got 3 times the offer. IF he offered to sell it for under value its his mistake and Cav's win. Open and shut case. how do you put people on probation list?

There is a whole list of rules regarding the probation list in the sales forum, but I'm hoping it will not come to that.

Sometimes in the heat of the moment, nice people make an error in judgement, and I'm hoping that Jimbo will realize that and correct it, Tamir.

I already told William about the probation list. If the "error" is corrected, which I'm hoping will happen, then no one has to go on it. If it's not sold and Jimbo is concerned about dealing directly with William at least 2 of us have offered to be the third party and the "error" can be corrected.

If it was already sold to someone else, then the probation list is an option.

    +1

  5. Earlier one poster threatened assault , that's some rage

Blocking people, probe list etc etc

People can have their take on it, I've worked in management positions and I can't throw people - either party under the bus - for a single infraction

    Each to his own

If the seller reneged on a deal to get more money after cav bought the book for the price being asked, why wait for a second infraction to occur? Sure they could have updated personal lists and moved on, sucks for the next guy on the boards who may fall prey to this from the same seller. I personally hope the seller will get shamed into honoring his deal with Cav, or get nominated by him for the PL. FWIW I'm in management too and there are some things such as having good business ethics and values that are non-negotiable with me. If that puts me in the "pitchfork" crew, I'm cool with that.

I agree with Brains on this. PL list is there for this purpose, correct?

Like so many here I have some pretty significant after sale offers here that I have turned down. One would have put $6k more in my pocket that night

You freakin' honor the deal, unless your raising funds for a life and death matter and the original buyer agrees to let you off the hook. Right?

    well said Rick.....

  6. i'd kinda like to know which boardie among us pulled the after-sale coup; another one i'd choose not to deal with down the road.

Excellent question, I too would like to know. Whomever they are they can take solace in knowing they can pull that book out from the deepest depths of their mancave in the middle of the night and gaze upon its beauty all by his lonesome. Such a shame the book can't go on a sig line or posted on one of the "cool" threads showing off a recent acquisition. How could anyone actually feel good about obtaining a book in this fashion is beyond me.

Let's hope it doesn't come to that and the seller eventually does the ONLY thing he should have done to begin with. Get. Book. to. Cav.

    well said man.

  7. ComicCav knows that the deal is off. I made the decision not to proceed for valid reasons. As much as I would like to defend my position publicly, ComicCav has mentioned getting attorneys involved, so I can't discuss the matter in detail.

I can't think of anyone easier to deal with that you, Jimbo. Threatening to get lawyers involved is a punk move by CC.

Punk move? We don't know the story. I saw cab claim it and he won it. The guy pays fast and buys a lot. What could be a valid reason not to sell to him. Attorneys should not be involved but if we publically don't know what happened this will be figured out privately and the seller will not be getting much business from a lot of people.

So relax buddy before you call someone a punk. None of us know anything outside of what's on the thread

  8. WOW......looks like jimbo_707 should and will be going to Santa's Naughty list. Way to be a negative aspect of being on the boards there buddy.

Ive sold for too high, bought for too low, bought for too high and sold for too low. In the end it balances out and we are here to help each other get comics we want and enjoy the hobby. The money difference you made on selling to someone other than original person who first took it (comcav) isnt worth you ruining your reputation. If this holds i will fro one will never buy from you and no one im friends will on here will either. Do whats right and honor the transaction.

And if i find out who the buyer is im gonna....kick you in....your.....
