  2. Aw jeez, not Davison. I can't even google it. It seems this era of pulling back the curtain and exposing celebs "real" lives is hell-bent on destroying everyone I idolized as a kid. I did google this and the only thing that I could find was Pete Davidson from SNL who has had a drug problem. This came up when I searched "Peter Davison drug addiction" so maybe that's what you saw? I never heard anything about this until now, so I'm hoping that's the case. Nope we were talking about this in the late 90's as the next Doctor to go and this came up as common knowledge from our connected friends in England. Interesting, guess I'l have to dig deeper to see what I can find.

  4. Recap coming up this a little later this afternoon.
  5. That's the last of the box. I also have some Treasuries - some of which I've listed before and others which I have not. Anyone want me to post those?
  6. World's Finest #200 Neal Adams cover 8.0 VF ("Elvis & White" written in ink in upper margin of splash page. Don't know if it was Elvis Presley and Barry White, or Elvis Costello and Maurice White who owned this book, but you can be the judge.) $20
  7. Weird Wonder Tales #15 Not really sure how to grade this one. There are three parallel cuts to the left of center. Looks like either someone used this for a cutting board or the shark planet tried to bite through the front cover. Otherwise, I would say it's 5.5 F- How about $3? SOLD
  8. Tom Baker episode set in a lighthouse, hijacked by some guy in a Max Headroom mask. Yes, that's it. Here's an interesting video I found about it that I didn't see before:
  9. Amazing. Davison had a slew of either really good or really not good serials. "Caves of Androzani" still holds up as an all-timer. (And all these years later, I am still in love with Nicola Bryant...nowhere near a great companion, but man, 12-year old me loved her...wonder why...) It was really funny listening to the DVD commentary for this story during the regeneration scene. Peter Davison talked about how he was acting his heart out in the scene, all for naught because Nicola Bryant was leaning over in a low-cut top upstaging him.
  10. That's probably my favorite Davison story. Mawdryn Undead and Kinda rounding out the top three. Like Kinda, Black Orchid had a heightened dream-like quality the production seemed to be going in (see Enlightenment.) Nyssa prancing around in her undies in Terminus was character farewell highpoint, as well as one's most satisfying departure in Earthshock. I love Mawdryn Undead. One of the more complex plot lines (seems like there were a number of really "cerebral" stories around this time like Warriors' Gate, which still baffles me, and Castrovalva, another fave) and I enjoy that whole Turlough/Black Guardian cycle. Black Orchid was a nice, rare shot at a historical piece, which they'd pretty much abandoned at that point. Kinda, though, eek. Not a fan Funny thing about Earthshock, I believe it was a mishap, but my PBS station bled over the audio to some opera at the end of the episode, so that, as the spaceship is hurtling toward Earth, you start hearing some totally out-of-place opera dialogue over the scene. It actually made it seem even more poetic. I think I taped over it the next time my station ran the Davison era and I realized the ending was actually supposed to be silent through the credits. I actually preferred the first way I saw it, even though it was definitely more "good riddance" than tears. Interesting that you mention this. There was a YouTube video I watched a few months ago that had something about a pirate broadcast during a Tom Baker episode where someone hijacked a PBS signal and ran something during it. Will try to find it and post the link.
  11. Listing some more Simonson Thor in my Copper Age thread now.
  12. I was a big fan of the show in the 80s. When Colin Baker was fired and McCoy took over, I completely lost interest. McCoy's doctor is the only one from the original series that I didn't like, so I only watched the first two or three of his stories. The stories that Colin Baker was going to do in the lost season were abandoned, which was very unfortunate because they looked quite promising. A few years ago, I started rewatching the series on my Roku (starting in the middle of the Tom Baker years, then going back to the beginning), including all the reconstructions of missing episodes. Glad that I did! Lots of Hartnell and Troughton stories that I never had a chance to watch and finally got to see. I had also never seen Tomb of the Cybermen (found in 1992, after I stopped watching it) and the individual episodes from story arcs which had others missing. The finds of Enemy of the World and Web of Fear were great to have back and finally see as well. Finishing up Troughton's last season and looking forward to seeing the Pertwee stuff in color that I only saw in b&w years ago. My favorite story from the original series has to be "The Caves of Androzani" with Peter Davison. Tried to watch the new series starting with Christopher Eccleston, but didn't really get into it. Might give it another try at some point.
