  1. Nah, I picked mine up back in July but I saw the one you're probaly thinking about. The reserve was like 1500.00 for a .5 AF15? I've been trying to keep an eye on that one but the guy just disappeared.
  2. I'm one more step closer to completing my ASM collection I just picked this up from the post office a few minutes ago. It probaly would have graded slightly higher if someone hadn't of wrote all over it with a marker Anyhow, thanks N ASM#1 Here is it is with some of the other family I picked up this year... All PGX comics will be resubed to CGC...I'll crack the slabs first before I do to help keep things fair. Then I'll post some before and after shots.
  3. WOW! That looks like a very simple and effective way of storing all those books. Thanks for sharing that. So how do people outside of the comic world react to you and your collection? I mean people usualy label us comic collectors as geeks or nerdy, but we're talking about a major investment and a lot of history. One last thing and this may have been dicussed as well: I remember years ago you running an ad in OS? for a DC book. I got to think about this and was wondering, what was the hardest book(s) to find? Thanks, Ray
  4. I started when I was ten. Started seriously in the early 1970s. Completed it in July 2005. Ian, I'm not sure this has been asked but how to deal with all those comics? I mean do you have some form of Comic room or even a museum to display some of the books? Big Logo Detective covers My collection pales in comparison I'm sure but I have two so fair. Then I have a handful of misc other Big Logo DC covers. Once I finnish up my ASM collection, I'm going to focus on trying to add more to my big logo DC collection.
  5. You could almost over pay for an early Spidey today and then break even the next day.
  6. Ya These two make the rest look like Girl Scouts
  7. I'm not sure where to post this and I really don't want to start a thread about it. Anyways, does anyone know what I could expect to pay for a 9.8 copy of Amazing Fantasy 15 (2004 edition)?
  8. I'm guessing my collection is around 1 million...give or take 800,000.00-900,000.00 But really, I have never sat around adding up the value of any of my collectibles. This is something I need to do real soon due to insurence reasons.
  9. Thanks people, I'm not going to complain about owning a low grade AF15....now the price I paid is a different story
  10. Well it's a little early to go poping the cork on the bottle but...I won the auction I'm so excited but I wasn't sure how to mention it. There was more than one person bidding on it and they lost. So I feel a little bad about it. I started watching this book from day one thinking it was a good chance to pick of a copy since it was in such bad shape. Anyhow, it's not home yet but here is my soon to be copy of AF15
  11. Yes sir, I figured it would land around 1200.00 before it was over.
  12. Yes sir, but I don't feel like this push on low grade books is because of some intent to drive prices up wards. I think someone stated, the increase on high grades is making lower grades look better to people like us who can't aford to drop 5,000.00 or 15,000.00 on a single book. Anyhow, whats really got me wondering about this is the sudden maga increase of low level key books in high grade. An example is ASM 129. One sold for like 14,000.00 I like the Punisher as much as the next guy but not enough to trade in my car for it. This sort of thing will only put pressure on the lower grades causing them to spike.
  13. Quite the opposite I think, better grade books keep climbing and force buyers to settle for lower grade books. I can't imagine this auction setting a president, you gotta vote for him. It's just my opinion but you would think we place a vote each and everytime we buy a book. I mean doens't groups like the GPA and Price guide analize info from sites like ComicLink and Ebay to figure out volume of a comic and price?
  14. Personaly, I was hoping it would stay around the 600.00-900.00 range but I had a feeling it was going to move beyond that point. So do you think this auction will set a president? I mean cause some type of ripple effect on the lower to mid grade AF15 books?
  15. Dayum, I want to be like Mike I'll say you are. Time to update that sig! Nice! Thanks, I got'ter updated (thumbs u
  16. I'm finnaly filling in some major holes in my ASM collection. If things go well, I hope to have either an AF 15 or ASM 1 in the very near future ASM #1 Golden Record reprint PGX 8.0 ASM #3 PGX 4.0 ASM #5 - Raw, probaly around a 3.0 ASM #6 -Raw, probaly around a 3.0 ASM #7 - Raw, probaly around a 3.0 as well.
  17. I figured I may as well put my name on the ASM collectors list. I started collecting the serires about a year ago and so far I need around 70 books. My collection includes all the ASM annuals, ASM giant size, and ASM 150-500 straight. I have a ton of misc books before 150 but nothing in huge runs. The hightest grade under 200 is probaly around 5.0 - 6.0 grade. I wouldn't mind higher grades but right now I really would rather consintrate on completeling the set. Now days I'm focused on finnishing the 100's while at the same time looking for good deals on some older key books like ASM 1-10. Ray
  18. Ok so I'm going through my comics to find a 10 center to post for the heck of it. Well low and behold I really don't have hardly any at all. I got tons of comics from the 60's - 70's but their mostly all 12 - 25 centers. So is this 10 cent deal a price variant? Well it's not a Silver age 10 center but it's 10 cents
  19. I'm totaly new to this part so I hope it comes out right. Kudos to Chrisco37 !!! A) I had read where some people had missed getting a copy of a certain CBG one month and I posted I could still get that issue. He emailed me asking if I would mail him one. Long story short I mailed him the book and he payed me back plus a bonus B) Just last week I was on a thread talking about ASM #122 and mentioned how I would love a VG copy to read etc. Chrisco37 shoots me a email telling about a copy he had. Then he mailed it to me and the book was dead on the grade he stated and the price was very fair
