I don't recall all the episodes, but Jerry is seen reading issues of superman in Seinfeld a few different times. Micah from Heroes is also seen being given a Silver Surfer #1 (1968) from a woman disguised as his mother to keep him busy. A new Netflix special with Ricky Gervais (Special Correspondents) features a scene where they walk past a comic shop and look at an Amazing Spider #14 Sorry, couldn't find pictures from any of these scenes.

This series did have a lot of momentum but it fell off when the last break started. I don't know what Chris Dingess is doing but maybe he just doesn't have right direction yet for the next ark. It's hard to believe that he could keep us waiting 7 months for that but sometimes deadlines are hard to meet. This is the first story I've read with either of these two artists and I like it but my interest isn't being held for very long.

Very nice! I missed that auction. The one I was watching did have the sketch inside. -

The content is actually the main reason I'd like to have one. I'm extremely curious of Smith's original creation of the characters. It's like reading Bone in a different context. -

I'm on the lookout for about a VF/NM copy and I couldn't spend more than $1250 for it. Do you know where there's one being offered publicly? -

I can't help you there, I don't really know how to spot a fake, or even if fakes are a legitimate problem with this book. My own suspicions were raised just from the situations at the time. Nothing overt about the book itself caused them, once was due to the person with said book being a known shady type and the other time was because the book was just so much more blue than any image / other copy of it I'd ever seen. I don't know if that is meaningful at all - I know production standards weren't exactly high for that book. From what I've heard only 1000 were printed and many were discarded. Just a small campus bookstore made these so I wouldnt expect the colors to remain very vibrant. The NM copy that sold was kept in a safety deposit box for a long duration and even then the colors didn't pop. -

I know it's extremely hard to find which is why the second one that sold on eBay after the NM sold raises my suspicion. The NM copy came from a pretty reputable guy. What are the key features to look for when trying to find a real copy? I'm confused as to how someone could counterfeit this type of book? -

This is a good point, I think they have an appropriate case already but with all of CGC's recent upgrades, it could mean that they'll step it up in their verification process. I'd really like to have a Thorn tales from the lantern graded once I find one. Such a gem from Smith's college days. -

They look like any other TPB from what I can tell. They should be able to grade them if they can verify the authenticity because I know they grade square-bound books. I would think they can find an appropriate case. -

I can understand that just as they cannot grade most ashcans that may look photo copied. I'm surprised that they can't some way to verify the authenticity though. -

It's a hard one to find but I was very surprised to see two sell back to back on eBay a few months back. One was Near mint as well. It's on my want list as well. -

Have you considered grading it? If not for your own personal satisfaction, then for the large price bump if you ever decide to sell it. -

Bone #1 CGC 9.4 - This is the biggest modern that I own and will probably ever own. Does anyone think that the animated series rumor is true? I'm really hoping to see Smith follow through with this. On a side note, does anyone think that Simpsons or Futurama comics will ever be worth something? I wish the show fanbase would pick up the books. -
Copper's Heating/Selling Well on Ebay
WilliamG.Staggers replied to fastballspecial's topic in Copper Age Comic Books
I'm sure you can find something else to spend $3-400 on than an itchy & scratchy 1 9.9 Doesn't that go for pretty much any expensive comic purchase? Buy what you want. This is true. Personally, I'd go the 9.8 route on it and save myself 300+/- bucks. But, based on the last recorded sale (3-4 years ago), $300-350 for the 9.9 doesn't seem like a totally off the wall number. I agree. Just go with a 9.8. I doubt you can tell the difference between a solid 9.8 and a 9.9. I thought this was a forum for junkies who prize rare graded books. Why are y'all tryin' to get this guy to settle? I say spend the extra 300 and buy the more rare book otherwise what's the point of collecting anything that's encapsulated? I see, it's your book . . . My book now (; -

I took into consideration just buying a 9.8 but early bongo comics are something I cherish in mint condition. Im waiting for a Simpsons Comics 10.0 to go on sale hopefully in the foreseeable future. I went ahead and got it because it's something Ill keep for myself long term. Im happy to own it! -

Thanks for the helpful info! The seller is set at $350 for the book so I'm still considering it because Ill have this book in my long term collection. Bongo 9.9's don't come up often and many aren't slabbed anyways. Sorry, I wont post on multiple forums in the future. -

Hey guys, Im new to the boards and I thought I'd come here for some advice. Im considering purchasing a CGC 9.9 Itchy and Scratchy comics #1 but before I send an offer, what do you guys think is a fair price for this book from 1993. CGC 9.8's usually go for around $40-$50. -
