  1. THE DEALERS OR OWNERS OF THE COMIC BOOK STORES IN THE NYC METRO AREA DO NOT STATE A GRADE THEY JUST QUOTE THE 9.4 PRICES OUT OF OVERSTREET AND WIZARD FOR ALL THERE COMICS SINCE THEY NOW HARDLY EVER PUT PRICE TAGES ON THE PLATICS THE COMICS ARE IN.

The dealers are quoting prices to you based on the fact they want to make money. Just because someone quotes you a NM price on a book, it doesn't mean that they graded it as a NM copy.

I DON'T BOTHER TALKING TO THEM ABOUT THE GRADES AND PRICING BECAUSE I HAVE GOTTEN SOME NASTY REMARKS FROM THEM WHEN I DID POINT IT OUT TO THEM INCLUDING ONE OWNER THAT TREATED ME SO RUDELY WHEN TALKING ABOUT PRICE AND GRADES THAT I KNEW HE WANTED ME TO LEAVE!

Really! I would think that you would offer them more money since you seem to overgrade everything. confused.gif Since everything is "NM" in your book their prices should fit even if it were VF copies.

REALLY THEN YOU AGREE THEY OVER GRADE AND THEY ARE THE DEALERS AND THE EXPERTS OH AND THEY ARE THE CGC DEALERS AS WELL! ARE YOU SAYING ITS OK FOR THEM TO DO THIS BUT NOT YOU? AND WHY IS IT OK FOR THEM TO DO IT? AND WHY WOULD CGC ALLOW ITS NAME TO BE USED BY THEM IF THEY DO NOT USE CGC STANDARDS WITH THERE OWN STUFF?

Dealers do overgrade their items from time to time, but nothing like you did in your auction listing. It is okay for people to overgrade a little bit (ex. VF- vs. VF+), but in your case ("9.8 NM/MT!") is just a plain joke. By the way, what standard do you use? Obviously you don't use Overstreet or the Wizard for your grading criteria.

  2. That is so true! I can understand the idea of " grading being subjective " in a case where a book was graded a VF+ & it is CGC graded a VF-, but this book being graded a " 9.8 NM/MT !" is WAYYYYYYYYY OFF! shocked.gif I'm surprised people even bid after seeing his "impeccable feedback" wink.gif

Hey Scottish, maybe you can add a "unique CGC book" with no label to your CGC collection. tongue.gif

  3. stckwzrd1,

Just wondering if the dealer actually stated the book as being mint to you? Dealers tend to overprice their stuff (that's how they make money), hell, they even overgrade a lot of times, but I have never seen a dealer grade a book as "9.8 NM MT condition" when the book was junk. confused.gif

  4. That's why I have my cgc books signed on the slab laugh.gif The damn case better not crack or I will kill HEHHE smile.gif Signatures are more for your own pleasure. I get all of my "Raw" books signed at the San Diego Convention. If doesn't bother me if someone doesn't want to buy a "signed" book from me since I got it singed for myself to begin with tongue.gif Collect what you like & focus on the $$$ part of comics afterwards. especially if you need more $$$ to buy buy buy like me tongue.gif

  5. I love ebay! There are some losers out there that try to rip off people on a daily basis, but this usually can be avoided. I personally have neer been taken. That's why I post all of the potential comic "hazards" here just so that everyone here can make the call on a potential scam as I do not want anyone else to be shafted. tongue.gif
