  1. It's not just women- by the pictures I saw, it's hot young 20-something women. I can't believe people wouldn't see a big red flag with these accounts. There were many reasons why I attempted it... 1. The price was good but not completely insane to think it was definitely a scam. 2. The picture of what I wanted wasn't stock. It was the actual art in a house setting. 3. If you look up supergirlbatgirlravager online you can see they have a hat business that has many followers on instagram (although they are also following the same number so there is some strangeness there). Also you can see they portray a husband and wife with kids - she even said they didn't want to sell but needed money for the new baby blah blah blah plus it was just Julie Johnston then and not these conflicting names. The instagram is definitely theirs as the Square payment is the same address for both. 4. The biggest reason though is I couldn't see what they would get out of this except for a small float as it was protected by my credit card and not using Moneygram/Western Union. The amount of hassle (they actually mailed an empty envelope with a slightly wrong address to my post office to try to delay me and I wound up getting it because my post office knows me (so they wound up losing $8 on this )) for so little gain if it was a scam made it so I thought it was worth the risk. In the end only time was lost and I have an interesting story.
  2. Yup, that's the one. She (he, it?) even had the decency to take new pictures. Now instead of the Hildebrandt being propped up by a coke bottle on the floor it is luxuriously sprawled out on the bed. Judging by her statement of "Oh I gave it so much thought and I could never sell it at that price" never came around pretty damn quick.
  3. I did indeed have to go the credit card route. It was a big circus and they fought til the end. I just wanted to let everyone know I noticed on the comicartfans site Paula Gonzalez is selling some of the same items that this scammer was selling so apparently she is trying the same scam... again...
  4. By the way this is who they are if you want to be on the lookout. https://www.instagram.com/supergirlbatgirlravager/ Part of the reason I went ahead with the deal in the first place is they have 6000 likes on facebook and 4000 followers on instagram (although they are also following 4000 people so there is probably some spoofing or BS here). I figured they wouldn't want to put their hat "business" in jeopardy .
  5. Not yet, it just happened today. As for the proof there was no signature confirmation, it was to a different name and address and it even listed in the tracking number on the USPS website that it was undeliverable as addressed and would be returned to sender.
  6. OK, so I go to the post office and it is as expected, an empty envelope that cost $7 to mail that has a different street number and slightly different name. I would love to know what the point of all this was. Why spend money to mail out something to buy 2 days time and then refund my money anyway (assuming that goes through)? I am guessing they thought I wouldn't do my due diligence with the post office and it would go missing for a time or get returned to them like what happened with AnkurJ but still what do they gain? If this was an insurance scam then they should've delivered a large empty box to my address that has to be signed for and then it would be a he says/she says thing. If anybody could come up with a theory as to what their motivation behind this whole thing would be I would love to hear it because the scam aspect just doesn't make sense, I think they are just crazy.
  7. Yes, if I decide to attempt it that is exactly what I would do. But there are obviously reasons for just washing my hands of it. Frankly I hope it is a small box so I will not have the choice to make.
  8. Well for anyone who wants an update on my situation with the Hildebrandt they answered my request for a tracking number and they sent "something" out on Tuesday priority mail. I check the tracking number and it reaches my post office but it says it's undeliverable. I call the post office and they say that the writing is illegible on it and I am going after work to check it out. When I email Julie about it she says that they needed more time to think and that they don't want to sell it for so cheap and that they are issuing a refund. So.... did they mail the painting only to assume it would be sent back to them? Did they mail an empty box? Why mail anything? This is almost a comedy at this point.
  9. I don't know if you are familiar with Dorian Cleavenger but my best ever deal was getting The Sacrifice original for $300. That is definitely a too good to be true deal so that and a couple of others have skewed my already gambling oriented nature. I found it curious that she wanted to use Square instead of Paypal which I had never heard of at first but when I researched it, it looked legit and took credit cards so the risk was on.
  10. What was interesting was at first I even called her on why is the price so low, you must be taking a huge loss. She said she paid $850 for it back in '08 (not sure what Hildebrandts were going for back then but I would think that would still be kind of low for a 38X25 black and white piece) and needed the money for her pregnancy. She said she would like to have more but she needs it now. Because of the photo/email matching with her other store and the somewhat believable story I went ahead with it. I've had some too good to be true deals before actually work out so I don't feel bad taking the risk.
  11. No, I just ordered it on Monday. Of course her communication was great before the sale but when I noticed her gallery was down I emailed her about tracking last night and I haven't heard anything. I have already started the ball rolling with my credit card company.
  12. I was googling possible scam because I bought the Greg Hildebrandt casting couch piece from her and something didn't seem right. I was curious which ones did you try to buy from her. Even though my alarm bells were ringing I will say that after doing some basic due diligence, the biggest factor being that after googling superbatgirlravager she has her own store selling hats she makes that has over 100 likes on facebook (could be BS likes I know) and attached an aol email address apart from corresponding on comicartfans that matches the store email address (so it's not someone spoofing that store). I just don't know what they would be thinking to put their other "business" at risk for a relatively small amount of money that wasn't sent with moneygram or western union so is more then likely recoupable to begin with. This scam just doesn't make sense to me which is why I thought it was legitimate.
