I got what I really want the most so it comes down to finding a presentable copy that people like me and fifties can afford... I own a book that Robot-Man doesn't have? Well, mine's still highest graded (of 19 copies, with one 8.0 and one 7.5), though I thought sure to have been exceeded by now. Maybe there is a raw Spokane copy lurking somewhere? Does anyone have any theories regarding it's relative scarcity in higher grade? That is a beauty! All I know is I have been looking for one in the Fine range or better for the last 3 years and I think this is the second one I've seen available.

Another Phantom Lady gets covered in Mylar and goes in the box I know boxes are for wimps, but I don't have any of the spinny racks anymore

Nice copy. This book is the classic example of a book not extremely difficult to locate, but super difficult to find in higher grade( as mentioned 5.0 and above). A condition super rarity and almost impossible to locate in 8.0 or higher. As flex said, this is on the short list of "best" or Classic FH covers. It is my personal favorite Planet cover (33-35 are on my short list too...and 66... oh wait, 70 is great too...and then there is 56, of course...and you can't forget 58. Damn, they are all nice ) and in my top five good girl gold covers.

That copy was in my personal collection for a decade. Love it and congrats. Your collection is some beautiful stuff ROY. I would have gone for the Rangers 14 too, but my copy is pretty close to that one.

I finally found one of these better than 5.0. I don't have to wait around for Jimbo to finally sell his now. I couldn't even wait for this to show up to my doorstep to celebrate. I had several copies of this and even have multiples now but this is the first time I've been able to have one that's in the fine range.

Thanks! It would be really strong if not for a small chunk out of the upper right corner of the cover. It is like a 7.0-7.5 with that- think it brings it down to 5.5.

OK, I just saw this thread. Phantom Lady 18 is what got me into golden age GGA. It is the first book I bought in this genre- a F/VF copy back in 1995 or so. It is my favorite, but maybe for sentimental reasons. I sold it around 2001 and I regretted it ever since. I have a 3.5 ish copy now and am looking to upgrade.Mine has great color but it has some cover issues. I had a resto copy before that- I kind of wish I would have kept it too. I 100% agree with Sqeggs about PL 23 being superior. I have had 5 copies of PL 17 over the years and it took me until a few months ago to get my first PL 23. So, for me it is PL 18 in 1st and PL 23 in second. I definitely think 23 is HTF. Heresy time now ; I hate looking at PL 17- the freaking hands drive me nuts. I am sorry, I know this is the iconic cover, but to me PL 17 is not for me- not that I would turn another one down Pictures follow of my current 18, 23, and one of my last PL 17.

That's a travesty Jim! I guess it would be hard when every 3rd book in a run reads "Classic Cover" though.

Absolutely. They are all pictured in the auctions. And all books come with a Mylar and Fullback as well. I bought 10 books or so from that. I wish they would have been sold here personally. Really wanted that My Life. Went higher than I anticipated.
