  1. Hey Everyone, What are your thoughts on the grade of this book? Thanks in advance!
  2. Hey everyone, what are your thoughts on the grade of this book. It lies flat, staples are tight, but it looks like the bottom staple has some rust. The pages are off-white to creamish. What do you think this would grade at?
  3. Thanks! Definitely getting it pressed! Helen of Troy and the Trojan War are favorite historical and literary topics of mine! Very excited to get this book!
  4. Hey guys, picked this one up on the cheap. It is a beater copy, but it presents well. The centerfold is detached at both staples. What are your opinions on the grade? Thank you!
  5. I adjusted the box some. I made it to where it doesn't cover the date, but I couldn't make it too small....have to give him some room to sign. Thoughts?
  6. I totally get where you are coming from. For me, I started collecting autographs when I was a kid...I was also collecting comics. If I had a high grade key issue (like an old Spider-Man, Avengers, etc.) I wouldn't want it signed. However, I do enjoy getting really nice covers signed. I think its ok, especially with lower grade silver age books. I guess to each his or her own though. That is one of the cool things about this hobby, there are all different types of collectors out there.
  7. I was able to get this one prepped tonight. I had to make the box a little bigger to give him room to sign it. I don’t want too small of a space to where the signature will be too crunched or that will cause them to take the book out and him signing it somewhere random. What do you all think of the window size, sufficient or too small?
  8. This is why I posted this thread here, hoping that I could get some good advice from experienced collectors like yourself and Mr. Johnson! I may try to get both signed, we'll see. I didn't think about what you all had mentioned about a good signature placement being better than it being a big key issue. Although, when I purchased these books one of the first things that crossed my mind is that they would look good signed!
  9. I know! I’m really torn between the Homer #13 and the Millie #93. Both are cool covers and neither have a SS in the census. There isn’t even a Homer #13 in the census and there is only like 1 or 2 of the Millie #93 in it.
  10. Hi, are any CGC facilitators going to be at an upcoming Stan Lee appearances like Wizard World Cleveland? I'm looking to mail-in a book for the yellow label. Thanks!
  11. I'm trying to decide if I want to get this book signed by Stan Lee or one of his other books. I have: Homer the Happy Ghost #1 (the one in this thread) Homer the Happy Ghost #13 Millie the Model #93 A Date With Millie #1 and I'm looking at maybe buying Two Gun Kid #60, but its a beater copy, OR Two Gun Kid #77 What are your all's thoughts on which book to go with?
  12. Thank you! I'm still trying to work on my grading skills and I tend to find the lower to mid grades harder to grade for some reason.
  13. I have no idea, but either way, I think it will present very nicely. Thinking about getting Stan Lee to sign it since he did the story on it.
  14. Oh she's definitely getting pressed! I hope it turns out nicely. I'd love to get in the VF range with it, but we'll see.
  15. What do you all think the grade of this book is right now? How much do you think it can improve with a good pressing? Thanks!
  16. I recently picked up this Retailer Incentive, signed copy, of Jennifer Love Hewitt's comic book, "The Music Box." The book does have some marker smear on the back cover, which is probably from stacking the comics on top of one another after she signed it. With that being said, what do you think the grad of this book is? Not sure how much that marker smudge would drop the grade. Thanks!
  17. Hey Everyone, What are your thoughts on the grade of this copy? Thank you!
  18. Thanks for all of the replies, this helps me with deciding whether or not to get it signed and slabbed. I may just get it signed and put it in a mylar.
  19. So they would still do that even though that would put her signature upside down?
  20. This may be a silly question, but if I were to get the back cover of a book autographed and the cover is upside down compared to the front cover, how would CGC display it in the slab? Example: on the book below if I were to get the photo cover signed...
