Jeremy,
is the published version of the ps2 a line for line match to the inked version that sold? Or were the initial pencils digitally inked for the game and then the pencils reinked as a private commission or something?
Going over it, it looks like the inks don't match the game cover. So now I am curious what it was inked for.

If it was a non-OA collector crossing over it might make sense. They may not realize (and thus not care about ) the impact of the post publication alterations.
No doubt they should've inked a blue line, but at the end of the day, it's still a published venom cover.

I think the price is okay given it is the special version cover of Ultimate Spider-Man for PS2. Many video game art collectors would be happy to have a Spidey game cover in their collections.

Hi, Alex
We don't have USPS here in the Great White North so its not an option for me, unless I drive 1.5 hrs to cross into the US.
Wouldn't a higher level of Canada Post shipping service transfer to some kind of priority USPS package when it crosses the border? Just curious.

And don't forget, there are comic book artists represented including a Jim Lee piece with Batman characters, Frank Cirocco pieces (who just had a page from Alien Legion 1 sell in the last comic art sale), Ken Macklin pieces (who did some Critters and Albedo covers), A Glenn Fabry (well known for his Preacher and Hellblazer work), a Kent Williams, etc.
I hear there is a video with a handsome man named Jeremy on youtube about it also
My strategy was to thirst trap potential bidders.

One of my early goals when I got into video game art collecting was getting video game works by Julie Bell and Boris Vallejo. Fairly early on, I snagged a cover to an unreleased SNES game by Julie (Arcus Odyssey) and later acquired the Boris (Onslaught) a year later from a fellow collector.

Great piece, Jeremy. Sass looks like your uncle. Same height, similar glasses, etc.
He totally does!

I recently had the privilege of visiting Mike Sass up at his studio to pick up this recreation of his original cover art for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Mike was BioWare's head of promotional art for about a decade and worked on all of BioWare's games from the mid 1990s until the mid 2000s. His video game artwork was originally digital in nature, but he is also a very talented traditional painter. To render this large piece was a lot of work, but the final result is fabulous and he even managed to capture all the cool effects of the digital version. I'm thrilled to have this unique piece of game art in my collection!

I think there's an interesting parallel here with Pokemon cards when compared to NES collecting. The base set Pokemon cards have lots of variants, which I think helps to drive the price moreso than the later sets: 1st Edition thick/thin stamp (all 1st editions are shadowless and I believe thick stamp was first), unlimited edition shadowless variant (quite rare), unlimited edition with shadow (most common). Then there are also ghost stamps, which are kinda neat.

I figured this thread could use a little bump!
I acquired a piece that takes me right back to the turn of the century. I became a huge Resident Evil fan back in middle school (my first introduction being Resident Evil 2 on the N64 in 1999). I read the entire book series by S.D. Perry many times over and was thrilled to recently acquire the only traditionally created cover art for the book series and one of the handful of actual paintings for the whole franchise. The art is by Steve Gardner for Capcom/Pocket Books.
