Just fold the tape over on the top of the piece to make a flap. Simply pull down when you want to remove a comic. The tape stays on the bag, clear of any in and out of the book.

Yes, if you have to use regular tape it is nice to make a flap. In practice I almost never see people do this. (But maybe I'm buying from the wrong sellers.)

Also, over time, regular tape becomes gummy, and harder to remove and re-use.

The post-it flag achieves the same thing, but in a cleaner way.

Is it really that hard to figure out? I don't like when I receive flaps tucked in personally. Seems lazy.

What is there to figure out?

It's just a hassle, and a risk, dealing with the tape.

In many cases it's very difficult to pull tape off a bag, especially without bending the book.

You can cut the tape, but this usually wrecks the bag, and you still risk snagging the comic on a stray piece of tape when you slide it out.

Lizards's post-it flags are a great alternative. Removable tape (which seems like same glue as post-its) is another good option.

One simple solution is that tape belongs nowhere near comics, comic bags, etc.

I've carefully tucked in flaps ever since I started buying comic bags around 1972/1973.

For M2s I use the 3m post-it flags, or equivalents.  I've received M2s from other collectors where they have neatly snipped the corners off the flaps so that they can be carefully tucked behind the support board.

When I get books in, the first thing I do is get rid of all the @&*$% tape, which is sometimes quite the chore.

One of the worst practices I still occasionally see is people sending books in open top mylar snugs - the books usually fly out the open top during the rigors of shipping, and frequently engage any tape that is holding the cardboard sandwich in place.  Another bad practice is shipping books in the thinnest mylites - those frequently split the sides or bottoms of the bags out in the rigors of shipping.

I'm with you. I don't really understand why everybody always tapes their bags. Huge hassle.

If you absolutely must use tape, consider Removable Tape.

I cracked out ten slabs today so far -

    Of those nine inner wells:

    Three had no shims

Three had shims on the side

Two had shims on the bottom

One had shims on both the side and the bottom.

... to be sung to the tune of The 12 Days of Christmas ...

Sorry @adampasz, I know you are fairly new and I'm finding a lot of the new people have not read the sales rules for the forum yet.

Tamir is absolutely charming and definitely a showperson. However, there are rules about bumping threads for a reason. It's not to be mean at all.

When you bump a thread, or you ask a friend to bump  your thread, it brings your thread to the top (which is great for you;) but not so great for the people posting underneath you.

If you are posting a book, it's fine. Even if you just add a book a day. But when you post to announce a time, don't show up at that time, but have people (who are clearly interested as you are in the books) posting to show they are there, so that you can show up...EACH time those people bump the thread, it shoves the other person down...

and while that might not be "cluttering" the rest of the boards, it's not exactly playing fairly  with others in the sales forum.

If he had his own sales forum just to himself, that would be fine, but we all kind of like to share;)

That's all well and good. If we're not following the rules correctly, you all should set us straight.

I was responding to other comments I read above that seemed over-the-top, and not appropriate for a general discussion forum imho.

  6. I'll keep short, and I won't comment here further.

I've bought dozens of books from SB, and I'm comfortable with his grading and his shipping. I have no reason to think he's trying to scam anyone.

I think his sales threads are exciting. Yes he's a bit of a showman, and he does chat up his books in a way that makes them perhaps too tempting, but this is part of the fun. If you don't like his style, don't follow his thread. (It's not like he's cluttering up the rest of the boards.)

If you have concerns about a particular transaction with him, I would suggest that hurling insults in this thread is not an effective way to resolve them.
