The highball to lowball offer indictor has recently started to go negative when more lowball offers are coming in versus high.

The dealer post dated check indictor is currently flashing early 2022

Cash/trade signals are currently flashing since prices have gone so high more creative deals are taking place.

Media whores have gone the way of QVC network mentality whereby "fake TV shows" are believed by many to be real even though they are scripted.

The VOB (Very overpriced books) is currently at a 10 year high

The FEID (Forever in Debt) Dealer pool has been flat to stable lately.

Unlike the metals market there seems to be those that think copper is more valuable then Gold or Silver.

The above is considered a parody on the state of the current market so unless you see me on MSNBC or CNN please don't take this seriously.

I'll take it at 20% off if still available. What a deal!
    Epic thread!

  3. If you're collecting runs, focus on shorter ones. 30 issues is about right for me. When I got back into collecting 5 years ago, I was quickly able to put together runs of BWS Conan  and Silver Age Teen Titans. I struggled much more with Flash and Doctor Strange. If you're collecting long-running series, I recommend focusing on a particular creator or period -- maybe a 3 to 5-year stretch of time. Marshall Rogers Detective Comics is an example of a great, short run to pick up.

Remember, run-collecting is only one approach. A lot of the fun in the hobby is discovery, and looking for opportunities that are out there instead of forcing your expectations on the market. I never was the biggest Batman fan, but I picked up a nice set of 100 Bronze Batman comics for $3 each, and now I have a significant run.

For some kinds of books -- especially those without serialized stories -- I don't worry about runs at all. I just look for neat covers. I will buy multiple copies to try to find the "perfect" one. I use this approach with SA Spider-Man and FF as well. I don't really have a hope of putting together runs on those. But if I see a good deal, I jump on it. I don't even bother to check if I already have the issue anymore. I know it is easy to sell "under-copies" for those. :)

Regarding Nova #1 specifically, I would proceed with caution. That comic has hit all time highs this year. Perhaps it will continue trending up, but it seems a lot of the value of this comic will depend on if and when there is a movie, and whether it is good. I'm not saying, don't buy it. But be aware that prices could be volatile compared to more established, "blue chip" series like Spider-Man and X-Men.

just giving it the + because of desirability,

That only happens for Golden Age books.

I gotta say, I started this exercise because I put these away and haven't looked at them for decades, and originally my thought was to take advantage of the current market conditions, but now that I'm getting these out and paying closer attention, all of a sudden I'm feeling that boyish fun of looking at these comics.  Makes me want to collect some more rather than sell . . .

You are now in the danger zone.

    Close your web browser immediately.

Put your comics back in the closet, and go do something useful with the rest of your day.

  5. Hi Joe. Based on the video, it's looking like about a 4.5 due to the creasing. Maybe a 5.0.

BTW, I recommend you simply post hi-res pics or scans here, instead of a video.

Restoration is mostly frowned upon these days, and CGC does not perform it. (They do restoration removal.)

Pressing -- which is not considered restoration by most collectors -- helps when the creases don't break color. I don't think it would help for this book.
