Pretty funny how they call it "uncovered", and it has been on our lists for a long time now.

Actually, those are the rougher copies. The scans take forever to retouch, and sometimes they look wrong if they are retouched too much. I'm holding out for better scans, or until I have time to do the pics justice. If any of you are photoshop wizards, I'd welcome any help there, too.

I'm not sure why they covered up the prices, but it is obvious they did a sloppy job on many of them. On some of them the price is covered up, but not all of the box around the price. You can see bits of them sticking out under the whitman logos.

Here's an update on what's still missing from the gallery. Some of them are scans that I'm working on. Not all of DD's stuff could go right in. It will take me a while to get them all retouched, including the stuff I'm getting from mile high.

Don't know if this helps--

I actually have used a few of mile high's scans, but they put their logo on everything, and I want the pics to be without it. I've been retouching the scans to take the logo out, but that takes forever. If we get really desperate for soem of them, that's what I'll do, but it will be a last ditch effort.

Once I get DD's newest batch of stuff put up, I'll come back and put up a new list of what's still missing.

You rock, DD! I"ll get them all in place ASAP. Once we get close to having all the scans, and I get all the thumbnails in place, then I'll start working on the fullsize pics.

I'm currently entertaining the notion of doing the same thing with the Marvel 30 & 35 cent variants. Do you guys know if there is already a cover gallery on the net dedicated to them? All I've been able to find so far is just lists with a few pics.

Purple Label Scans?

Never quite thought about it like that! I've actually retouched hundreds of scans for the CPG database. I took it upon myself to try and get a bunch of the missing golden age books in there, but many of the scans I had available between my own collection and what I could find on the internet were just not up to par. If the scan doesn't look good enough, the admins won't ok it for the database (unless they REALLY need it).

I think the variant haters will stay away. I'm not trying to sell the books, I'm just being a fanboy. I will admit that I'm trying to bring more traffic to my website & ebay store with whatever content I can get on the site, but I'm not selling the Whitmans that I find. I'm keeping them all. Even the dups.

I'm pretty excited at the reponse I'm getting here on this board and a couple of others. Apparently I'm not the only one who thinks there needs to be a definitive list on the net somewhere for collectors to use.

I'm reworking each of the pics so that they look as NM as possible. It is sometimes painstaking work getting them to look like new again, but I think it is worth it. I'll eventually be adding in fullsize pics to the gallery, too. The plan is to make all the thumbnails clickable, but I want to get the thumbs in there first.

I'm also uploading all of the pics to CPG. Everything over there should correspond to the pics I'll have, and once I get all the pics up, I'll be adding links for each titles to the price guide pages, and we should have a pretty decent source for info on Whitman Variants!
