Ok, we’ll move on to Silver Age….the Tec #111 may or may not come to this thread later. A local friend has right of first refusal and I have not heard back yet.

Backstory/provenance: This collection came from a 64-year-old who moved south and did not want to carry these around any longer. I’ve gotten small (three-four short boxes) collections before from casual collectors who collected briefly during the late 80’s-early 90’s but never before from a guy who collected casually in the Bronze Age. He said he bought much of the silver from its off the racks buyer, a young man who sold it to him as a kid in the 70’s. They lived in the same apartment building in NY, the young guy didn’t want his childhood comics, and sold them to the kid (now 64). That got him going for a while, and he bought some bronze new and some more silver and gold as back issues. He collected briefly after getting hooked, even buying multiples of a few bronze #1’s, and then it fell by the wayside and the boxes just moved around with him over the years. That is the backstory as shared to me by the seller.

This could take a couple weeks, and not everything is photographed yet but I'll keep shooting as we go each day. We'll start with a handful of Gold, then get into silver and bronze by run, keeping the keys embedded throughout. I plan a long session tomorrow night, a few tonight, then back a it mid-week, as Monday-Tuesday are out of the question for me. Give me a few minutes to briefly explain that headline in the next post, then we will open with Gold.

Some of you may have seen the announcement thread...connecting the dots... Posted July 19 (edited) Coming soon ... 200-300 books....owner said he collected as a kid in the '70s and they sat since... I'm keeping the Wonder Womans and Avengers 1, and a few that are upgrades for me, but in those cases my undercopies will be subbed into the thread .... Need to photograph, grade, price but here's a sample of what's ahead. The collection is just a few gold, lots of silver and bronze. The silver is mostly mid-grade and lower grade, much of the bronze is pretty sharp.

What is more important: 1st appearance or 1st cover appearance?

Neither is a first appearance for Man-Thing. -
Name a comic battle that made no sense
Readcomix replied to World Devourer's topic in Comic Polls & FAQs
From a business perspective, I see your point. But I thought it was a great illustration of Spider-Man’s powers and made perfect sense given the space he had to work with. -
Big ol’ fat funnybook from early ‘42…less than 50 on census, almost half of which are restored/qualified…an incomplete Cap #12 went for almost a grand two years ago on HA (paid more than that for my incomplete #17)…and my Cap #12 is no way in H E double hockey sticks coming up for sale anytime soon, so I have no clue what boardieland is waiting on in this case….
