  1. Picked up this upgrade today, one of two silver age books in a small stack of mostly Golden Age I bought
  2. That's different.....they came off the presses that way!
  3. Yes! For the life of me, I could not think of that word late last night....
  4. I have always loved that X-Men 218 cover, still do, but I just noticed for the first time that Longshot is throwing cake batter mixers.
  5. About the personal collection thing, I'm not sure I believe it on eBay every time, but I do like the context when I trust it, for reasons @Buzzetta supplied: provenance gives you some sense of the history and care of the book. Plus, it can be fun to know, if the backstory is interesting. I like when boardies mention it in their sales thread; I also like when boardies say "I just bought this collection from a retired tractor salesman from Pascagoula" or somesuch. I think both are interesting, non-essential points in a sales thread here when I read them. If a book is presented as having come from a boardie's personal collection I usually take it to mean that copy has been well cared-for and not on the market for some time.
  6. @skypinkblu 9 bank boxes of funnies? If this is the collection I'm thinking of, it's a labor of love to bring these affordable treats to the boards. Thanks in advance! I'll shoot you a PM.
  7. Marty, are you starting to slab your books? If so, we need a groundswell requesting the labels denote they are from your collection. Not that you are selling; just that it's an awesome chance to record an original owner GA collection!
  8. I hope he can pull this off...I first saw an Action 2 a bajillion years ago, when a late friend who ran my local LCS showed me his copy from his personal collection, and the book left a strong impression. Maybe it was because the first time seeing it was in person, in hand, instead of a picture somewhere, but that Leo O'Meaglia cover absolutely blows me away ever since. I think it's the coolest non-Supes cover, and cooler than many, many with him. But let's ask the expert: @Hudson Is it just me, Rich?
  9. You may well be right that they have not yet peaked, but I would not operate on the assumption that they will behave like FF52. That is a 1965 book intro'ing a character that Disney is steadily, successfully retrofitting into the top-tier, 1963 and back Marvel pantheon. These other three are bronze books, and while they are all cool, there is a LOT more Bronze Age high grade sitting out there. A local collector put his collection on consignment in an LCS in my area. There's Multiples, to varying degrees, of most every bronze key. Peter Parker 1 alone was 161 copies.
  10. Don't forget #49, first Giant-Man (well, tied with Avengers #2, but he just shows up there as Giant-Man. This is the origin story.)
  11. @Callaway29 @Bird Thx guys! Might not hurt to grab some Defenders 36, too -- first app of the second, female Red Guardian -- the first one's wife. It's a dirt-cheap guess to make.
  12. Not a sigs on books fan in general, so I don't like it.
  13. I forgot he was in Antman and the wasp, thanks. Much as I love the characters coming to life on the big screen, most of these movies top out at fun but forgettable. Which is great because I rewatch team every so often and enjoy them all over again. I read all the Agents of Atlas stuff, absolutely agree! Forget Namor, gimme Namora!
  14. Would you guys cut it out and show some decency and help a new guy??? Sheesh; I'll do it.... Pipsy, I don't think you should flip silver age or bronze/modern comics. You're likely to crunch the corners.
  15. Thank you; I'll try to shoot an interior shot or two later. But it's 1957 and obviously post-code; very cool, transitional and creative time in comics. I wonder if Yelow Claw was the first title to feature a villain in the lead role; I think it is, offhand.
