  1. Heck no, we're saying the same thing. By game I just mean playing at speculation which is a legitimate part of this (and I assume) most every collecting hobby. I think your pick is reasonable and low-risk, with nice potential upside (in the context of investing in comics). Throughout the mid-200's of the Avengers run, the character was actually well fleshed-out and a significant member, so there's good precedent for him as a solid avenger. (The lineup was him, Cap, Hercules, Starfox, Capt Marvel as the core for a while, morphing later to him, Sersi, Herc, Vision and Crystal. I should flip through the long box, but I remember it as a very readable era and Dane Whitman as a three-dimensional member for the first time in Avengers lore.) I think the character can possibly surprise a lot of people.
  2. What the heck...while you're at it with Black Knight keys (there's crazier ideas within the game you're playing -- lord knows they've been dead long enough) maybe throw in a nice sharp Marvel SuperHeroes 17 while you're at it. It's his first solo story, in a 1968 square bound with a dark cover, so it can't be too common compared to its 1968 peers in high grade. But what do I know? The only Venom book NOT to spike before that movie was ASM annual 25 (1st solo appearance). But if you want to be completist about Black Knight keys, I guess MSH 17 is in the mix too.
  3. I didn't get there but I talked to Chris. He said the new owner is Jeff Watkins, who owns Cloud City Comics in Syracuse as well as a shop in the Philly area. Chris said he really likes Jeff and is very excited. Great news for Darren's family that the shop is sold, and great news for the upstate NY collecting community that the Comic Depot remains open!
  4. Reminder: Take 25% Off all True Comics Take the three remaining Looney Tunes & Merrie Melodies (#'s 67,79,83) as a lot for $20 I will get to Treasure Chest soon; didn't forget
  5. Patience... https://www.slashfilm.com/margot-robbie-barbie-movie/
  6. Ghosts in the graveyard to shrunken heads in the dungeon
  7. I thought hard about 8.0 Hulk but went with Star Wars, high as 9.6 is, because I recall it having a print run over 1 million. I would guess that Hulk issue sold somewhere between 180,000 and 240,000 copies. Based on my guesses, I figured a healthy bolus of SW1 might exist to put 9.6 over the top. Thanks again, Claudio. Lots of fun!
  8. I voted same -- Iron Man #1 6.5, but just as well could have picked IM#1 in 7.0. These are fun and interesting; thanks Claudio!
  9. Looney Tunes & Merrie Melodies #'s 68 &96! Thank you, sir! (I see four #'s above your quote of the cover of #96 -- If you meant to take #'s 79 & 83 as well, they too are yours, and thanks. If no, that's cool.)
  10. SOLD via PM! Looney Tunes & Merrie Melodies #67. This has the overall appearance of a VG+ approaching VG/FN but for some extra and unnecessary staples added. $10
  11. Ok, that's the End of Act I. Everything before this post (all True Comics and related) is 25% off. We will now take a short intermission of five GA Looney Tunes & Merrie Melodies before Act II -- GA Treasure Chest (probably a different night.) Ready?
  12. Well, either boardies don't like True Comics, or they don't like my prices. So I will test the one variable I can -- Take 25% off all True Comics! (True Aviation included). Check back in a couple hours for an intermission of golden age Looney Tunes & Merrie Melodies before we get to Act II, Treasure Chest, later this week.
  13. Blowupthemoon AND Comicdonna!?!?! That's an anniversary date to celebrate!
  14. I think Sulipa gave a pretty thorough list in his Overstreet market report two guides ago, if that helps anyone. I recall Superboy #6 was also on his short list of the six toughest. I believe they are all from the same month in 1980, IIRC.
  15. Actually, I guess this one belongs here too. Not quite as disturbing, if you can believe that, as the cover they did not use -- the image in the "coming next issue" ad in the inside back cover of the original edition of Classic Comics 28 (Michael Strogoff) was worse! I will try to dig mine out for this thread. It was a small ad, but I will effort a close-up.
  16. This one has been tough to locate but I think of it as a bookend to CDNP #46. The scrawl at the bottom is an Alan Bellman sig; I'm not an autograph guy but it was the only copy I had seen available in a long while and I wasn't letting it pass.
  17. Ok, that's it for Act I; feel free to send PM's Act II will feature Treasure Chest, but Of course there will be an intermission in between Acts, and what better stars for an intermission than ... Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies! Issues below #100, the majority in pretty nice shape! Stay tuned! I'll edit the headline to announce the Intermission when it's about to begin, sometime tomorrow. Thanks al!
  18. Here's a sister publication, and also a Gerber 7 -- Aviation Adventures and Model Building #17 (final issue). The series was formerly known as True Aviation Comics Digest, then True Aviation Picture-stories. As noted on the cover, part comics and part gravure magazine. Call it Good due to rough spine, mostly. $10
