  1. Tales to Astonish #82 GVG $5 Great Iron Man vs Subby slugfest. (If you've never read this, it's jarring in a cool way. First two pages drawn by Gene Colan, the rest by Kirby, because Colan got sick. Different as night and day; reminds me of the first time I heard the Traveling Wilburys, with vocals transitioning from Roy Orbison to Bob Dylan and Tom Petty.)
  2. Tales to Astonish #65 GVG the new Giant-Man, with art by Bob Powell inked by Don Heck. SOLD! ($15) Extra cool fact: the original owner filled out but did not clip the coupon on the Mighty Marvel Marching Society ad page, which is how I determined the collection was amassed in Springfield, Mass.
  3. Tales to Astonish #61 GVG. First Glenn Talbot, plus an interesting android baddie that seems like a Vision prototype. (OSPG says 1st Mailbag, too) SOLD! ($10)
  4. Tales to Astonish #60. My notes say 2.0; I think I went G mostly due to the rusting at the lower staple, which is attached at back cover only. Hulk gets his own series. SOLD! ($15)
  5. Okay, key time...Tales to Astonish #59 VG. First Hulk in title, first mention of Hulk getting stronger as he gets madder. Classic Marvel slugfest vs Giant-Man. Just look at that date stamp! SOLD! ($50) Seriously, this is one I will miss as I love my copy and this one is nicer, but I read it too often to keep ia nice one, and I can't keep everything from this batch.
  6. Tales to Astonish #58. I'm going to call it a G due to some spine splitting, oddly, between the staples, though not reaching either one. But flat and clean, with a superior date stamp. SOLD! ($10)
  7. I see some of my pix are blurrier than I realized. If you need a re-shoot on anything, just ask. FUN FACT: The original owner who sold me these books said Giant-Man was his favorite growing up, and he was disappointed that Marvel was not able to make more of him. This is completely unimportant on the one hand, but on the other it's cool as all h-e-double hockey sticks to know, and I wish there was a data repository somewhere with this sort of stuff about original owners. I wonder what Edgar Church thought was the coolest thing coming off the racks in the '40's?
  8. Tales to Astonish #55 also GVG but more 3.5+ than mid-3.0 that the range implies. Another sweet date stamp. SOLD! ($15)
  9. You guys supposed to get it too?
  10. FYI all I'm closing this thread (at least temporarily) to focus on my sales thread in G/S/B, "Original owner silver age M.R. collection," as I'm getting a lot of PM's about what else is to come there, so I am trying to get them shot and all posted as quickly as possible. Also, I'm weighing whether to break these books into smaller sub-lots; they may also return in that form. But I'm waiting 'til my current silver thread is completed. Thanks all for looking!
  11. Ok, taking a break for tonight. I will shoot for tomorrow evening for posting the rest of the TTA and getting into another title as well. Many TTA still to come, including #59 (1st Hulk in title, vs Giant-Man, and 1st mention of Hulk getting stronger as he gets madder.) There's also the first Glenn Talbot, the "new" Giant-Man, and a terrific Sub-Mariner/Iron Man slugfest, among others. Thanks for looking and see you tomorrow!
  12. Tales to Astonish #51, going GVG Range again for very slight roll (evident from back) and top staple slightly pulling, though everything is attached. Great colors, Date stamp, placement and initials both nifty on this one. SOLD! ($15)
  13. Tales to Astonish #50, probably someone's VG but I'm staying in 3 range with GVG due to slight chip out of top, lower right color-breaking crease, small back cover damage. Brightness and cleanness in its favor. $20
