  1. That second panel and the story title would make an awesome t-shirt!
  2. I just reread and realized, Lou, that I thought the others were talking about any Pep 22 ever. But they specifically meant the highest graded 8.0. I misread. I cannot imagine that the Church Pep 22 is not in that weight class. Of course, like any of these, it comes down to a relatively small pool of decision-makers: the whales who can and do spend 7 figures on a single collectible asset. I wonder how many able people, beyond the handful who have already bought a 7-figure comic, are out there and would consider "the right book?" That's why I posed the question earlier about AA16. Yes someone among the current pod of whales might well go that much for the beautiful 9.4 Church (thanks for posting it, woowoo) but I wonder if it has long legs? Would the estate of a 7-figure buyer of that book find someone on the other side of that trade at the same relative level 40, 50 years from now?
  3. Yeah, but if I post the interior from the 28, Rick will drive the price up on that one as he sweeps them all into his GGA hoard!
  4. Thanks bro! Thought those would be up your alley! (Mine too!)
  5. Okay, I was thinking of the Hitler as Horror thread but the Rimely horsemen did not come up there; sorry! Can I make up for it by at least adding this to the thread?
  6. This Timely horsemen book was recently discussed in a different thread, but I cannot recall which one or which book it is! But I will scroll and attempt to jog my memory.
  7. Yes, welcome to the golden age addiction! It's the place to be, and what a great start that Black Terror is!
  8. I could see the short list of people who can and do shell out seven figures on a comic doing it for the Cap 1, but other than longtime cachet derived from extreme rarity, what am I missing that would drive AA16? I get at its much less common than the other heavyweights, but the character has nothing in common with newer versions and nothing to propel it. Don't get me wrong, I love Nodell, the whole Alan Ladd and Aladdin riffs, but I would be worried about future generations' handful of comic collecting whales at those levels viewing the first GL, however rare, in the same light as Action 1 (more important as the first superhero, the prime mover comic, than the first Superman as let's face it he's not the most popular hero anymore) and the first Bats and maybe Cap. Am I missing something else, or is AA16 in fact a riskier bet than other high six-figure books?
  9. Quite possibly the greatest superhero name of all-time, Neon the Unknown! GA at its (pardon the painful pun) finest!
  10. Okay, since we're bending rules, here IS the underrated Police #109, but my new pick is still on its way in the mail...
  11. Double-doomed with a tripod try-out to doubly disguised with Doiby while trying out the Army
  12. What the heck....let's make it an even 10 lots....here is the rare, out-of-print first edition trade paperback of JLA vs The Avengers. Other than the bottom edge wear, it looks like it came off the bookstore shelf. Based on the wear, I'll say VF. $50.
  13. Last lot, bonus lot, not from same collection but all VF/NM. Five issues of the original What If? Run for $5.
