Iron Fist's costume always looked like a rip -off of Deadman's to me.
While I don't think it inspired the costume, Roy Thomas said on a text page in Marvel Premiere 15 that Iron Fist's origin was basically a homage to Amazing-Man.

Why does he need to take it home to reprice it?
Absolutely ridiculous.
Exactly -- I was done! Lots of vendors at that particular flea market. I still go, but I walk right past him.

While the idea does amuse my time is more valuable and I wouldn't waste any more time on this seller.
Well, I can certainly respect that too. And I have done that with at least 1 flea market seller whose shtick was everything had a price on it, but if I asked about it he had to look it up in Overstreet. Then it was I have to take it home and reprice it. The guy made me feel like I was trying to rip him off by trying to pay his already-accurate prices. So I told him off and walked away.

Egg Fu better make the cut!

Create some work for him -- go back, pull 10 or so drek books at random.
Get the same answer, tell him ok, thanks, please have him call me when they are priced. Change your mind on the phone.
If they offer to sell to you at $1 each on the spot, change your mind on the spot.
Sounds like lots of you guys near there; everyone lather, rinse, repeat.
jusr a thought.

Is there a way to check who 'bought' it to check for schilling?
Kav, you're killing my wealthy, foolish buyer fantasy!

Yeah, but the fact remains someone pulled the trigger...I'm as shocked as you guys in one sense (no boardie would do that) but I'm more eager to find that,er, niche market....it's pretty established that wealth and intellect do not necessarily correspond. Understanding that is clearly profitable, apparently.

to ALL of you!
Nothing AT ALL like any of you heavyweights in terms of books I can't hold onto (never parted with any GA of significance, nor any SA keys where I don't have more than 1), but the only key of any sort I cannot hold onto is a Bronze perennial. I have traded away ASM 129 three times with no additional keeper copy. Once in the 1980s for an Iron Man #1, once about 10-12 years ago for an FF#48, and once last year as one of 18 books I traded for an Avengers #1 to complete my run, plus another Avengers #4. Just an aside in this thread for sure; guess I cannot shake my view of the Punisher as a two-dimensional supporting character, fwiw.
I guess the relevant point is my mindset apparently says bronze is expendable; gold is not.
Thanks for sharing some awesome books!

All are fairly scarce in my experience. I lucked out I think and picked up a #1 and #4 several years ago from the same ebay seller, then a #2 about a year after that. Finally found a decent #3 last year or so.
Thank you, that's what I thought, based on my experience.

I've got issues 1&2
Sorry, the way you phrased it, it sounded like it was new to you. Awesome books, no? And underrated. First Asian superhero by first Asian-American comic artist.

Cool cover. I bet it was cheap too...LCS' usually don't know about that kind of stuff. I found a Teenage Romances #33 (with a Baker cover) in an LCS about 10 years ago for $12...
Yep. I traded for it, but he only had $25 on it. And my photo does not do it justice. Other than the lower left crease and very slight roll upper left, the rest of it is flat, bright, and clean.

I'm less worried about the grade as I am about the book shifting from the cover. Anyone have a similar slabbed book?
Sorry; misunderstood!

There is a FMV of $250. My understanding is that they will reject any books with obvious (call it amateur) restoration - but will not be performing a professional restoration check. With the value limit, there isn't going to be much economic incentive or opportunity to pass off professionally restored books.
All that said, the service would offer more value if it included a restoration checkYou raise a good point that at fmv $250 there's not a lot of incentive, perhaps with the rare exception of a highly skilled archivist who happens to be a collector, with low enough principles to not disclose their work! Hopefully, that's a narrow slice of the hobby.

Re: wall books at the LCS
I always assumed that price was placed there as a starting point because seasoned collectors would haggle them down to a reasonable price point. Also-- lets the store charge a huge markup to the unseasoned collector/novice/person buying for someone else.
Not an unreasonable way to price things-- used car dealers do it all the time. People at big comic cons too apparently. Well most dealers with boardie Gator explaining he puts the bottom line price on his books (based on what he wrote here in the last year or so).
This is what I figure too. I might have a price range in mind for a given grade, and the calculation most always includes eBay as a source, but I don't rattle off sources and prices. I just stick to my range and negotiate into it or walk.
why? Because I hate when dealers say to me, "I can get more on eBay!" To which I reply, "Yeah, but this is I'm standing here with cash bay!" No return because you see me walk away happy, no non-payment, cash in hand. That's worth something too. Reference eBay all you want, but I can't stand when either side uses it as an exact negotiating tool. (Exception -- if both sides take a "blended rate" on a highly liquid book such as ASM 300 where there's lots of current transactions for most any given grade. I think that's mutually fair to do together. But most gold and early silver, the N of transactions is not big enough to set a price in stone. A floor maybe, but not a final price.)
