  1. Of course, an MGA80 needs a 79, where the DP is teased as coming next issue on the letters page, but as "The Legion of the Strange."
  2. That's what I was thinking....BWS not, over his career, as anti-sig as Ditko, but fairly infrequent compared to most. That about right?
  3. Ok, total ignorance here as I'm not a sig collector (though I have a few acquired by happenstance, including BWS, which is why I'm asking), so his sig is not particularly common? I get the sense he's not exactly like Ditko, but has signed on and off sporadically?
  4. Thanks, but wow! 9.0 is sky-high for this book!
  5. As I promised Sal, I am resurrecting this magnificent Association dedicated to this underrated team.
  6. Funny, I just re-read this old thread because the headline sucked me in and I thought, "No brainer #1 even though Avengers #4 is my favorite book. What am I missing?" I still think the majority will stick with #1, but I see the argument that the real Avengers begins with Cap. Someone said without Avengers 1 there's no Cap revival, but it could be argued that the title might not have lasted had they not come up with #4. So it could be viewed a little like Hulk 180 and 181, though reality is it won't. I do think Avengers 4 and Flash 123 big as they are are still the most underrated SA keys for basically introducing the concept of linkage to the GA. I do have to wonder though, thanks to this thread, what the values would look like if the first and fourth Avengers stories as we know them had appeared not in a series starting with #1 but a converted title a la TOS 39 or JIM 83. Fun stuff to think about. i quoted the above because my 70's and 80's recollection had TTA27 in a bigger weight class than DD1 and ST110, due to relative difficulty to locate. Before the Internet era, that was a legendarily tough early SA book to locate. The other Marvel bottom-feeder key as I remember it was Sgt Fury #1.
  7. Read through this thread and completist collector that I am recovering from being, I had to add Boy Commandos 7 to this mix. They meet Thor and Odin in this ish.
  8. Cleaving the red raider to cleavage in red dress
  9. Forgive me if the new search function has failed me, but I thought we could use a thread to place any books that we have that are not in the Gerber Photo-Journals. I'll kick us off with an E.C., the only Picture Stories from the Bible that is not in there:
  10. Eight hours in this thread? Where ARE you guys?!?!? making a splash to flying four flags at full staff
  11. Yep...I suspect they mislabeled the pedigree....I believe it's from the Timothy Leary collection
  12. So a new comic is actually priced at four times inflation. Makes the dollar bins today's quarter bins, sort of. Though I guess if you factor in the ever-inflating money supply it's all a bargain.
  13. ....and one that hasn't shown up in this thread before:
  14. with one of my favorite underappreciated books
  15. And this one I've had since the 1980s.....made a trade in high school with a friend who got a huge SA collection somehow....I forget the story behind his score....anyway, he was an aspiring artist (wound up in Marvel production dept for a while) and gave me Avengers 3-19, ASM 17, a few DD's below 10 and I forget what else (that was most of it) for an OA Byrne page from Avengers 183 (an awesome page, fight scene with the Absorbing Man).
  16. Okay, I'm overdue in punching my ticket...doing it in two posts .... These were acquired in a trade in spring 2016...gave a stack of 18 books, headlined by an ASM#129:
  17. Thank you! I was thinking it looked like Gray Morrow, kinda.
