  1. Gocollect is only for slabbed, however. I am looking at raw.
  2. I am playing around with the Overstreet guide and was looking to apply the values to my collection, but wasn't sure on a couple of items: 1. What should I value a book graded at 7.0, when the guide only lists 6 and 8? Meet halfway? 2. What should I value a book graded at, like, 9.0 when the guide only lists a 9.2 value? Or same situation but the book is 6.0? Just make them all $1?
  3. I am grading a lot of fairly-new comics. One frequent flaw(?) I find is small (less than dime size) half-moon shaped dents. They can only be seen under the light, no color break. Sometimes there are only 1 or 2, sometimes there can be a small group of them in one spot. Not sure if this is the result of "flipping" the book over or from pressing down on it to get air out of the bag or what. My questions are: 1. Is this what they mean by "dimpling" - ? 2. Should I basically be counting these and taking each one as -.1 for the grade, so one with less than 6 of these marks would be NM? Or am I giving them too much weight?
  4. I believe the insinuation when asking for "highest grade" is that the flaw in question is the only flaw. So for purposes of discussion, assume it is a 10.0 other than what is shown. I understand the two objects have different levels of severity, let me know how you would add/lower grade for each. For example, if you tell me that (for one of the pictures) the highest grade is 8.0, then I know there are a few lesser flaws that can go along with it.
  5. Spine corner bends I have a high prevalence of this issue in my collection, probably due to being handled a lot. Hey, I got a lot of pleasure out of reorganizing them all 17 times over the years, haha. Just not sure how much to knock off for this flaw - what is the highest grade for a book with this kind of issue? It's where one of the spine corners has been bent, and it creates those 'ripples' in the cover on one side. Photo included. Thoughts are appreciated.
  6. Interesting. I guess it's fair to say it can be ignored on newer books at the very least.
  7. The Overstreet guide has examples where the miswrapped cover is pointed out as a flaw. It's just not clear how much it is contributing to the valuation.
  8. Hi guys, new to the boards and to grading in general. Have a question, if there is a better place to ask, please let me know. I am fuzzy on the effect of a miswrapped cover. Not sure whether a given level of miswrap represents "a limited accumulation of minor defects", etc. For example, I have a book where I can see a perfect 1/8th inch of back cover all along the front. What is the max grade for a book like that? Not to digress, but I watched several YouTube videos by a guy who took the viewers through grading, and he often referred to "maximum grade for a book with this flaw", which I thought was very helpful, but I don't see anybody else referring to that. Thoughts?
