  1. I set up as far away as I comortably can and use the zoom on my camera (6ft or so). then if I need a flash the angle to miss the glare is minimal...
  2. It has been a great ride. It also makes me want to remember the details of my own journey... I have enjoyed reliving my own hunt through your sharing. This reminds me why I collect and why this is THE greatest hobby in the world! So, thank you for taking the time to share.
  3. not so much what I sold, but what I should have bought...
  4. a couple of great books, great grab!
  5. Truth is I really had a good year in Golden Age Awesomeness, I got a great deal on a Ghost 6, a Junior 15, a Phantom Lady 13, and some other amazing books. But, I keep coming back to this Planet Comics #2. High Grade 1940 book that is just beautiful! As with many of the books I got this year I feel like I was just super lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time (with my wallet open). The purple label seems to make some books affordable – sometimes... I got this Purple Label Of Discount for half what I was willing to pay (seemed like there were no serious bidders at the time) and probably 5% (or 1% - we will see) of what the Church copy will go for. Also, I have never seen what I presume to be “Professional” restoration. A-3: A for Excellent quality materials and 3 for moderate amount. I can see the spine seal but the rest I can't find or is just inside the book. It's funny, the edges trimmed probably bothers me the most – I really don't know why. Anyway, I find the restoration process to be quite the art form in and of itself. I just love looking at this book. So this is my Book of 2018!
  6. That frame is SO what I would want if I ventured into original art... you are seriously tempting me towards a new obsession.
  7. oh, you are gonna get plenty irritated hunting 65
  8. 40's is when "household" spending peaks on disposables (example: most Dorito's purchased by household, stuff like that), then in the 50's kids start to leave the house and the need for a hobby many at this time rediscover comics and ramp up spending... that's the way I see it.
  9. Ok,so, the story in the listing says Stan’s first story was #3 dated May 1941... this book is #5 dated August...
  10. sorry 'bout the confusion... but in the end I am still trying to understand why "that" issue is so rare? I feel like there must be a reason. I am hoping a discussion will reveal something.
  11. this would also suggest that there are other books from FH at the same time that are just as rare...
  12. wherever I read this did not suggest it was Planet 15 that had the Radar story but another FH book at the same time...
  13. So, I have a question for all the Planet geeks, Why is Planet 15 (and maybe 14) so scarce? I read somewhere (on the internet right?) that someone estemates there are only 50-250 total... I don't know how someone might know that... I have read a couple of theories but I don't remember where... That Fiction House had a story that predicted fairly accuratly how RADAR worked. And as a new tech the government asked FH to not distribute that book and thus FH ended up destroying that months "entire" group of books... I am wondering if there is any credibility to this account or if there is another explaination for the relative rarety of Planet 15?
  14. OK, here is one I got last week. Lifetime member of the "overpaid" club, but I am happy with it. Really happy actually, it's a book I didn't really think I would actually get. (like Planet 15).
  15. cross posting because "I CAN'T HELP IT" it's so Awesome!!!
