  1. Cockrum X-Men 100 page goes for $38K.
  2. That Byrne Surfer page was pretty nice, and sold for $32K.
  3. Camelot 3000 #1 Title Splash goes for $31,000.
  4. Megaton Man 1 full issue goes for $50,000. Wow. I admit that I kind of entertained bidding on that until it went up so much.
  5. No. You asked for comps. I was referring to the discussion among collectors (which included a publicly known offer made by a well-known dealer). I said it was "speculation." But, if you want to discuss that, if the SW 8 panel page/splash went for 3-4 times the cover to either issue, that suggests the comp.
  6. I don't know. How much did the 252 Cover or the SW 8 cover sell for? The were sold privately.
  7. If I recall, the speculation before the Secret Wars 8-page auction was that it would hit $750,000, max. So even from that standpoint, the 252 page is kind of underwhelming.
  8. Not "wow" for the owner of the Secret Wars 8 page. More like an "Ow!" And if I recall, the speculation before the Secret Wars 8-page auction was that it would hit $750,000, max. So from that standpoint, the 252 page is kind of underwhelming.
  9. That Snarf 6 cover is pretty cool. I'm not a Crumb fan, but that one is nice. Explains why it's going for an insane amount of money. $252,000.
  10. $8400 for the historic rough draft of the first Lil Abner strip by Al Capp. Seems low.
  11. The Zeck Cap page market is ridiculous.
  12. Maybe this page went to the underbidder on the $50K page?
  13. Barometer of the Hobby: The Miller/Jason DD #190 cover with Elektra went for $252,000. The Romita Jr./Janson DD #254 Cover featuring the 1st appearance of Typhoid Mary went for $102,000.
  14. The Megaton Man #1 complete issue is already up to $25K, with Juice -- and its not even up yet. Wow. Way more than I expected.
  15. The TOS 39 page went for $552,OOO with juice.
  16. The ASM 252 black-suit panel page sold for less than 1/10th of the Secret Wars 8 page.
  17. Good news that actually counteracts some of the cynicism surrounding this incident: "The thief passed away in 2015 still owning the art trove, which had been hidden for a number of years, Wheatley explained. His heirs sold the art, and once the theft became known, the people who purchased the estate came forward and have assisted in the recovery process. Some collectors have already returned art, and others are being contacted regarding their purchases. None of the purchasers knew the art was stolen. "The good part is how many collectors have come forward to return art or to help trace the art," Wheatley said. "We have the best fans." ICv2: Wheatley, Hempel Seek Return of Stolen Art Trove
  18. These thefts suggest some kind of organized ring. Someone pays a storage facility employee for intel on storage lockers that might have valuable stuff in them, and then steals from those lockers. Either that, or a longtime employee or associate of the artists who had access to their storage facility pilfered the pages. Either way, it was an inside job.
  19. I think this depends on the circumstances. If you live in a wet climate, or have a basement prone to flooding or that is overly humid, that might be the case. But, in the House I am in now, the original construction included shelving under the basement stairs made out of cedar. This shelving is raised off the floor, and it is resistant to moisture and bugs. I stored raw comic books in a longbox in that shelf for over a decade and they never suffered. So if you have a good place to store stuff like that, you can probably do it. I'm less worried about flooding at my house than fire.
