  1. I'm trying to ID this artist. Who is this
  2. I wouldn't put art in front of the air conditioner. There is too much moisture in an air conditioner.
  3. Removing mildew smell I had received a piece of art recently that smelled strongly of mildew. I managed to get rid of the sent. I took a cookie tray and pored baking soda into it covering the bottom. I then laid chicken wire about one inch above it. The art was laid on the chicken wire and I put it all into a garbage bag and sealed it shut. In 72 hours I removed the art and the smell was gone. I checked the art two days later in my portfolio and still no smell. If you got a stinky piece give this method a shot.
  4. I'm going and as always I'm looking forward to the Thursday night dinner.
  5. Great splash page Hell hath no fury like a demoness scorned. This is a beautiful piece by the late Steve Dillon. This moment hit me hard when I first read it. Steve Dillon
  6. I just had my wife smell it. She has a better sense of smell than I do. She says it isn't ink. It's a musty smell like the art was kept in a damp environment. So I guess my question has changed to how do I get rid of a musty smell from my art?
  7. I had it in my portfolio last night. This morning I opened it and the smell hit me. When I took it out and aired it out your nose needs to be about two inches away from it to smell it. It is a Hellblazer piece by Steve Dillon. You can click here to see it. Steve Dillon
  8. I need your knowledge I received a piece in the mail today that was done in 1992. I can still smell the ink/marker fumes. Is that normal?
  9. A gift from England My wife and I visited England a couple of weeks ago. While we were there I got together with a friend I met on an original art chat site. He gave me this piece during dinner. Very cool and a big thanks. I've also posted a Nexus piece I bought recently by Steve Rude. The gift Steve Rude
  10. How many is too many "grails"? How many pieces in your gallery would begin to dilute the title of "Grail"?
  11. This is the last of my three grails. The stars lined up for me to get this including a mistake by the auction house. This item was supposed to have a reserve placed on it but the auction house dropped the ball. Had they remembered to add the reserve I wouldn't have this piece today. http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=966095
  12. When I showed my wife the Boris Vallejo painting I was buying she was so taken by it she paid for part of it. That isn't the same as buying something for me but it's in the neighborhood. On a couple of occasions she has bought comic related art for herself which I find very cool for someone who never followed comics. http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1371116
  13. You always get the better end of the deal if you love what you got.
  14. Rules in trading I can't be alone in this but I find trading to be a very frustrating experience. I've had successful trades but most of the time it turns into a "I'm giving up more then you are" defensive mess. A lot of times when someone wants something of mine they will have a stack of art that they have been trying to get rid for years and they figure maybe they can tempt me with what nobody else is interested in. Here is an idea. Look at my gallery and get a feel for what I collect or better yet read my lists of wants. That would make things go a bit smoother. If you want to trade you have to understand that I may be giving up art that means something to me. You may have to do the same. Please feel free to add a rule of your own. My first rule of trading is: DON'T TRY TO HAND OFF YOUR GARBAGE TO ME!
  15. I'm with skrilla1212 on this one. I have a few pages from Martin Wagner's Hepcats. This was a short lived indie series that took on substantive issues with dramatic depth, intelligent humor, and freakishly detailed art. The anthropomorphic characters were relatable and deeply crafted. The tone of the book was always consistent and on point. I'm always happy to find an available page.
  16. I don't know if I'm the only one here who has done business with James but in light of everything that is being written I would like to add my two cents. On more than one occasion I have purchased stock from James and have gotten commissions from an artist he reps. On those occasions he did work with me on the price. My dealings with him have been positive which is why I've been a return customer. That being said I would like to offer this bit of unsolicited advice to you James. I'm a Judo fighter and there is a saying in the fight game, "If you are defending you are losing". The guys in this thread are most likely not within your business demographic. There is nothing for you to gain here. Just disengage.
  17. I have the Mustek and it's not great but it is affordable. Not a lot of cheap options out there.
  18. Another grail of mine. Never thought I would own a Vallejo. See my other two grails here: my grails
  19. Cover or interior page from Incredible Hulk #218 is my ghost.
  20. What I'm looking for I'm trying to find pages from Incredible Hulk issue 218. Can anyone help?
  21. The grail I just recently got. My grail
  22. Adventure Joe adds art Does anyone know who may have the art for adds like this?
  23. A Frank Miller dream piece I never thought I would own this but here I am with an amazing grail. Enjoy. grail
  24. Got this from his CAF page. I think I got it 10 mins after he posted it.
