  1. Seriously, the Clink auction format does no favours for the seller, and certainly not for the buyer who “must have the piece”. Clinks format ensures that the maximum potential is NOT realized
  2. Yup, I definitely think you’re in the minority regarding your auction format preference.
  3. I'm beginning to wonder if the additional HA Signature auction is having an impact on the availability of material for Clink's Featured auctions? Case in point: Clink's Featured auctions usually contain 9-10 pages of OA listings. However, their last auction had only 6 pages of listings, and their upcoming Featured auction (bidding starts Aug 13) currently has 4 pages of listings. So, either they're sitting on a huge backlog of material that will be posted in the next 10 days or Heritage has found another way to divert some material away from Clink through their increased Signature auction frequency?
  4. Cover? Did I read that correctly? You have a McSpidey cover? it doesn’t count without pics
  5. $2K was a lot of money for a panel page back in 1998!
  6. That’s one option. Perhaps a more interesting route would be to take out a line of credit at 2.75%, which is a lot less than the annual increase in value for a Hulk 181
  7. Didn’t this page sell on Clinks OA Exchange for $30K?
  8. I love them all, but for the sake of fairness, you did indicate this is going to be a ranking of double page splashes. So using this criteria, the double page SPREADS from issues 8 and 14 should be removed from contention.
  9. I dunno about that...I believe there was a Marvel bullpen in the mid/late 60's as evidenced by Flo Steinberg, Marie Severin, Herb Trimpe, John Romita and others in Alter Ego magazine.
  10. Scarcity alone is not a cause for a premium. Scarcity + demand is, and hence the relative minority of ASM 300 collectors willing to pay a premium for the ASM 300 newsstand.
  11. What's in Venom 3 that's causing it to tick upwards?
  12. For the Spidey & Moon Knight fans out there...https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/bob-layton-amazing-spider-man-220-cover-moon-knight-original-art-marvel-1981-/p/7234-110001.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515
  13. Exactly right. I saw all of the movies a few years ago and each is progressively darker than its predecessor. Additionally, the child actors were "OK", but I find the adult actors really carried the movies, with excellent performances from well-known lead actors such as: -Robbie Coltrane -Gary Oldman -Alan Rickman (RIP) -Maggie Smith -Ralph Fiennes -Jason Isaacs
  14. I personally wouldn't pay a penny more for a newsstand ASM 300, but I'm a realist and won't dispute the fact that some folks are willing to do so.
  15. A nice fight page from this issue sold on Clink approximately 5? years ago for $26K, IIRC
  16. No, Larsen was bad on Spidey because he was a bad artist. Period. Had nothing to do with him following McFarlane
  17. um no. you are making a lot of illogical assumptions here, including one whereby folks are willing to pay more for a newsstand vs direct copy. I think the minority of ASM 300 collectors are willing to pay a premium, but perhaps 2x or 3x the direct copy value, but that's all.
  18. Larsen’s ‘artwork’ is the reason I stopped collecting ASM
  19. 1. McFarlane 2. Ditko 3. Vess 4. Romita Sr 5. Bagley 6. Pollard 7. Romita Jr 8. Kane 9. Frenz 10. Alex Ross
  20. Since the author indicated the list is based on his nostalgia as the predominant factor, so be it. Mine would differ significantly.
