  1. Nah, as long as there are others willing to purchase and hoard 40+ copies, the sky’s the limit on this book. 🤣
  2. I thought Schomberg also did the cover painting for the Overstreet Price Guide #10, circa 1980? It has Subby , the Torch and Cap prominently featured.
  3. The asm 300 rise has been consistent since February. Back then, you could pick up a cgc 9.8 blue universal direct for 1800-1850 all day long. Then it started to rise month after month until present. perhaps it will slide downward before the next Venom movie, perhaps not. one thing is certain... the comic stores here in Toronto don’t have one for sale presently, and in fact that’s been the case for a few months. Likewise for the dealers that used to set up at the greater Toronto area comic shops. For what it’s worth, the greater Toronto area represents over 6.5 million people. so if there isn’t local supply here, I’m assuming likewise elsewhere, which means the books may become available in limited quantities from personal collections on eBay and other auction sites. Case in point, there’s only 2 9.8’s on eBay right now, the cheapest being $4,495
  4. One thing to keep in mind is that the asm 300 isn’t the only Copper age book that’s been on fire over the past 5 months...asm 252, Hulk 340 and Thor 337, among numerous others, have also increased by 60+% during this period
  5. Oh, and another blue, universal, direct copy sold on Aug 26 for 4.5K
  6. Two Sept 10 sales (blue, universal label, direct sales) $3.6K $3.75K
  7. Any thoughts on the Romita Sr cover painting for $55K? I love the characters and composition (not crazy about the yellow background)
  8. Len Wein was a very talented comics professional who contributed a great many lasting characters, mythos, and memories for generations of fans. When I think of all of Len’s wonderful contributions, I don’t think of his work on the Hulk...it didn’t ‘click’ for me. This is not to take away from the man’s incredible talents as a writer creator, editor. Just sayin’
  9. My impression of Sal’s artwork is that he is a solid blue-collar artist. There’s nothing special or flashy or amazing about his work. it’s just consistent storytelling and his panel layout are simple to follow, so there’s never any confusion in terms of understanding what’s going. the Hulk is my second favourite character and I’ve collected the entire run. Sal has a rather lengthy run on the title (certainly by today’s standards), and I can see how those who grew up with his work on the title consider him to be the premier Hulk artist, but for my money nobody tops Dale Keown’s Hulk.
  10. This years’ Overstreet is particularly disappointing on a number of fronts: -Overstreet prices are normally behind market trends, but even moreso this year - no interview with Overstreet -Market reports ... page count trimmed down significantly, and those that were included are very generic and not very insightful I could go on and on, but if you want to use this publication as a reference for 1st appearances, it’s still pretty good. For all else...
  11. I think the ASM 220 cover was the deal of the day. congrats to the buyer!
  12. 1. AF #15 CGC 0.5 2. AF #15 CGC 0.5 3. AF #15 CGC 0.5 4. AF #15 CGC 0.5 5. AF #15 CGC 0.5 Also, I feel that ASM #1 is incredibly overlooked and undervalued and is due for a significant spike in price
  13. Another one... Marc Silvestri and Dan Green Wolverine #38 Story Page 15 Original Art (Marvel, 1991). Leave it to Logan to leave a group of battered and bruised thugs in his wake while beating the infamous Los Angeles traffic on this page from "See Venice & Die!" Here's a direct link to the page at auction: https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/marc-silvestri-and-dan-green-wolverine-38-story-page-15-original-art-marvel-1991-/a/7234-95209.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515
  14. Less than 24 hours to go before the live bidding segment and it’s a mixed bag of highs and lows and so-so’s. I’m sure the landscape will be totally different tomorrow. The Eisner Spirit 7-pager has taken a nice jump over the past 48 hours, while others haven’t moved a dollar in two weeks.
  15. Here's the second one: Marc Silvestri and Dan Green Wolverine #37 Story Page 4 Original Art (Marvel, 1991): A skeptical Nazi Captain looks off into the distance at his unlikely ally, Lady Deathstrike, perched on a mountainside waiting to pounce on Wolverine on this page from "Blood and Claws Part 3: Fall Back & Spring Forward" Here's a direct link to the page at auction: https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/marc-silvestri-and-dan-green-wolverine-37-story-page-4-original-art-marvel-1991-/a/7234-95208.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515
  16. HI, all; I've consigned some Marc Silvestri Uncanny X-men and Wolverine pages in Heritages' Signature Auction Sept 10-13. All of the Silvestri pages end Saturday, Sept 13th. Here's the first one: Marc Silvestri and Dan Green The Uncanny X-Men #261 Story Page 13 Original Art (Marvel, 1990): Donald Pierce and Lady Deathstrike arrive at an Athens hospital to offer Cylla a chance to join the cybernetically enhanced Reavers on this page from "Harriers Hunt." 17. But nobody cares/purchases it. Analogy: If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
  18. I grappled with similar thoughts upon making the decision to breach low 5-figures on a piece, and it’s amazing how quickly your mindset adjusts to it. Before I knew it, I made a few purchases into the high 5-figures, and ultimately into 6-figures (although I’ve only done this once...thus far). Now, if the right McSpidey cover becomes available...💰💰💰💰💰💰
  19. It belongs in a museum for all to appreciate. Better than any Frazetta, IMHO
  20. I've been purchasing the OPG since 1980, but over the past 10 or so years, I haven't used it as a Price Guide due to the woefully inaccurate prices contained therein. So, really, I only bought it for the interesting and informative market reports, but this year, the amount of space dedicated to the market reports decreased substantially as well as the quality of market reports. This year, we have many collectors & CBCS resources providing very general, broad-stroke comments. After reading a few of them, they all seem to have the same hum drum sound to them, and as you read through generalization after generalization, you start to skim over the words and think to yourself "blah, blah, blah, blah blah blah blah". what a disappointment. This is definitely the last year I spend money on Overstreet.
  21. Ron, did you take a close look at that cover? Wonder Woman's legs are drawn entirely out of proportion and once you see the glaring mistake, you can't unsee it. Hence, the ending price.
