  1. Totally hear you, but the last few TMNT movies didn't set the franchise on fire, resulting in TMNT #1 surpassing Hulk #181. There are several other forces at play here that factor into the realized sales
  2. IMHO, Byrne inked by Austin is slightly better than Perez. Byrne inked by anyone other than Austin falls short of Perez. Plus, John Byrne is a giant phallic symbol!
  3. Can anyone drop a hint as to whether they will have any McSpidey art for sale?
  4. Yes, you're correct about that, but let me flip your question around with this: who cares about asking anyone on the street? Are they the ones willing to pay stoopid money for comics? I don't think so. Its the comic collectors/speculators who push forth the price increases, and currently, the majority of the movers and shakers are in their 40s- late 50's. They remember the 1980's B&W Boom (and bust), and Cerebus was a huge part of that, second only to TMNT #1. The only reason I didn't list TMNT #1 as the book to be the next Hulk 181 is because its already surpassed it. Hence, my selection of Cerebus #1
  5. Cash is king and will never go away. How would the Politicians strike deals under the table without it? 😂
  6. Lot count now at 350+, with early Human Torch Strange Tales Pages and the FF 95 cover by Kirby. more great stuff to come, including a few McSpidey Pages, a very nice BWS Machine Man page and more!
  7. I think you’re right, however, HA has a lot more art in queue for this auction and I think we can expect the lot offerings to double from the current count of 270 by the time the auction starts. Perhaps they’re waiting for the current Clink Featured Auction to near its close before listening many more lots. Conversely, this Clink Featured Auction has only 6 pages of OA listings instead of the usual 9 or 10 pages of listings.
  8. Back up for auction so soon maybe because of covid-related job/income loss (or dozens of other reasons), and not necessarily due to niggling doubts about the use of assistants?
  9. If Neal had illustrated the cover, then Weezie wouldn’t be on it. the entire value of HOS 92 rests squarely upon Weezie’s prominence on the cover kidding, of course
  10. And, of course, they would be incorrect in a sense because you had so many more people in the 80’s who bought comics to R-E-A-D. The 80s were my prime collecting period and I read every comic I purchased or received as gifts. It wasn’t until ASM 300 that I bought multiples of the same book.
  11. Nice pickup, Ron. have you read Claremont/Bolton’s Black Dragon? Similar era storyline with great art.
  12. And still, with all of the information provided by the OP, I would not be willing to pay 1 cent more for a newsstand copy over direct.
  13. Some more great art recently added: Stevens Chelsea Girl Sal Buscema Avengers 69 cover
  14. You would think so but there’s many who think it should be the web of Spidey issues
  15. I don’t understand the rationale of the folks that chose DD1 over Avengers 1. A DC comparable would be like saying Detective 225 is a greater key than B&B 28 because Detective is a 1st appearance (Martian Manhunter) whereas B&B is ‘merely’ the 1st appearance of the Justice League
  16. Web of Spidey 18 or 24, they’re both a bore. ASM 299 is the one that’s undervalued, with its gorgeous full page splash of the 1st appearance of Venom. ASM 298, the 1st McSpidey art is important, but not as important as ASM 299. ASM 299 should be worth more than 298.
  17. Yup, really picking up steam with this weekend's offerings: Keown, Bolland, Colan, and Romita, just to name a few...
