  1. Nobody cares about Tales of the Unexpected 43... 1st app of Space Ranger is Showcase 15
  2. You’re in luck! Heritage has just added the cover to Star Wars #23 in their upcoming Signature Auction. it will be expensive so start saving now, and good luck!
  3. Before I collected original comic art, I was heavily into Marvel Silver Age Keys (read: 1st appearances). And I owned multiple copies of each key simultaneously for many years (this is pre-Avengers movie hype), except for DD#1. i never sought out that book because to me, DD was a lame character with a very weak supporting cast, and more importantly, because Daredevil didn’t really start until Miller came on-board. Your mileage may vary, but it’s by far the weakest of the Marvel Keys.
  4. Been to John Romita Sr’s house several times. Also been to Dave Sim’s house on numerous occasions. never had an artist drop by my house, but I have confirmed an open invitation for George Perez and Jose Luis Garcia Lopez to drop by next time they’re in town. 👍🏻
  5. I was merely trying to follow your twist on things.
  6. Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman...the DC Trinity, all had their start in the Golden Age. By comparison, Marvel had Captain America, Subby and the Human Torch. So, yes, DC's Golden Age established more significant characters than Marvel's. However, for Silver Age, its not even close and you know it.
  7. So, for Ditko pencils and inks from the 60's-80's, you'd most likely be looking at the Charlton horror stuff (possibly a decent horror cover), Shade the Changing Man pages, perhaps a Mr. A page or a Question page. Anything else that may be included for consideration? I think a page from the Warren stuff would be above your budget.
  8. I love ASM 300. In fact, I have dozens of copies, but it is *NOT* a key.
  9. Which is far less significant than the 1st appearance of Spidey or the xmen or the FF
  10. what's the size of the Subby head?
  11. My examples of a Key for Spidey would be AF15, ASM 1. There are numerous other ASM's I would consider as 'key's ahead of ASM 300
  12. Why don't we try this a different way...what is your budget?
  13. Bart Allen, compare them to what, exactly? to similar characters introduced in the Marvel Universe at roughly the same time?
  14. If you cannot afford $200 for a mid-grade 'key', then you shouldn't be collecting 'keys'. Honestly, the term 'key' has become so diluted over the past few decades that it's lost all meaning. And no, I do not consider ASM 300 a key.
  15. “DC’s are criminally undervalued in comparison to their Marvel counterparts “
  16. ASM 129 has taken a beating the past year or so, with 9.8 WP dropping from around $15K to under $12K presently, while GSX #1 in 9.8 has seen a strong increase over the past year. Solely from an investment POV, I'd go with the ASM 129 simply because its time in the spotlight will come again.
  17. Thanks for your kind comments The books are signed by the three Romitas: John Sr, John Jr, and Virginia Romita, who worked at Marvel for 20 years. She's listed on the ASM #238 title credits as "traffic manager" I've got several more copies in the process of being graded by CGC and I'll update the photos once I receive the additional books. And you are correct, those are the original cover art to ASM 238 and 239.
  18. My favourite artist on X-Men was Paul Smith. 'Smitty' had a clean, crisp line inked to perfection by Bob Wiacek. But the one aspect of his artwork that caught my eye was his attention to detail to...hair. In particular, the X-ladies hair. The amount of attention paid to this detail was unique for the time and is something I will always remember. Here's a few pics as examples.
