  1. Actually, an ASM 129 sold on clink for $55.1K just a few weeks prior to the $40K sale on HA so the Clink sale is the record high price for this book. since the sale of the $55.1K book, several 9.8’s have become available on Clink’s exchange and elsewhere. The sellers were all asking in the neighborhood of $55K, but as the books remained unsold, they have started to lower their asking prices. Unfortunately, no takers yet so clearly the asking prices need to be reduced further. Prior to the $55.1K sale on Clink, ASM 129 in 9.8 sold for $33K on clink, and another copy also sold on HA for $33.6K. Long story short, the book was reaching new record highs with each sale, culminating in the $55.1K record sale on clink. That clink sale did NOT double the previous high water mark, but it was a huge upwards spike which has since deflated.
  2. Price discovery, scaring other potential bidders, other ‘strategies’
  3. I don’t know what you’re selling, but when it comes to selling original comic art, you couldn’t be more wrong! HA consistently yields better results than any other auction site, even accounting for their higher consignment fees
  4. I learned similarly, by paying more than necessary on the few occasions where HA ran up my proxy bid. these days, if I think I won’t be around my computer to bid, I contact HA to arrange bidding over the phone. You need to arrange at least 24 hrs in advance, and they’ll contact you 5 lots prior to the one you plan on bidding. It’s a great customer service they provide free of charge.
  5. Aside from Green Lantern, none of the DC characters are interesting to me so I’ll just continue to accumulate multiple copies of key ASM’s
  6. Heritage employees can place bids. This is particularly noticeable when you place a proxy bid in advance of the live auction and suddenly the bid on your lot jumps to just underneath your bid. I recommend everyone avoid placing a proxy bid, and only place bids during the live bidding segment for the lot(s) that you are going after.
  7. Cerebus called…he wants his schtick back 😂
  8. Does anyone have pics of the LA art show that they care to share with the rest of who were unable to attend? I'd love to see some of the 'fresher' pieces that some folks have mentioned on this thread.
  9. Well, of course everything is nuts compared to a year ago. The real question here is: are prices continuing their astronomical spikes upwards week after week or not?

  11. Tonight is the 1st time the weekly OA auctions close on Wednesday. let’s see if there’s any deals to be had
  12. I see the 1st spoken words, but there’s no sandman in the last two panels…just perspective from his POV
  13. I think the most recent page from issue #1 on Alberts site sold for $15K on June 10. No Sandman, but the main protagonist was featured prominently.
  14. Love the Maneely covers so much more than anything Kirby could have done with the character at the time. Although he didn’t draw superheroes for Marvel, Maneely’s work on Black Knight was exceptional!
