In part we're seeing a correction of an over-inflated market during covid, though golden age is less affected than silver or later. And a lot of those losses are the hyped Promise collection, which generated sales at prices that seemed high at the time and now we know they were. I'd say gold is doing fine.

Yeah, lots of dim wits getting their as@@ kicked by Promise books!

anyone with the wherewithal to gather these books ain’t likely to be dumb or unaware of market conditions. I like to think the sale of these big books simply marks the end of someone’s odyssey thru the collecting arc. When the thrill is gone, just let em go, no matter what the music is doing at the time.

But then again, of course, I can’t discount the “ominous” part of your query(as the world moves toward electronic images and away from good old fashioned printed media, the effects will blow back on the funny book business, blah blah blah)

and as AJD says below, I don’t think we know yet how the market is going to treat these high grade big books. The Action 1 seems to be doing just fine. The 9.2 Cap 1 is still low, but the slugfest is just warming up

The suggested prospect of the emergence of digitalization devaluing Action 1 is like saying that the invention of photography should have devalued the Mona Lisa.

I’m not sure the math adds up to profit here either.  I think any complete copy, restored, qualified, married etc.  gets around 400k now.  What does a coverless copy go for now? 150-200k?  Even if you got  your coverless copy for 20-30k a decade or so ago, you might just make more and for far less effort simply selling your coverless copy.

My guess is it went to so someone that wants to marry it and keep it… or it was fought over by a couple big money players who might try and flip it again on its own in a few years.

Just to slab it will cost the consigner approx. 20-25.000$. 25K for roughly 30 minutes of work. No wonder cgc is making money.
    Absolutely.  i n s a n e.

Just received my catalogue and  just saw that that an a rare OCT  is up.

I was wondering how much it will sell for since  a november coverless sold for  40k in 2022  and a CGC 2.0 moderate ext  c3  in 2021.

I havent seen an October copy sell in ages

I wonder how much $$$ the consignor saved on the slabbing fee, by sending this book ‘across the street’? Im talkin current rates here😎

I think this is highly plausible and makes the most sense! It's been known that they were the buyers of the Action 1 Rocket book in Heritage as well as a Tec 27 6.5 where Ken Goldin displayed it on top of his mantle at home.  Then he later auctioned off the Rocket book at his website.

What if Goldin was also the buyer…😎
