  1. Took forever to finally get it in hand, but this new addition to my PCH collection has quickly become a cornerstone of the collection.
  2. This one came in the mail the other day. On the fence if I want to collect this entire series as well. Have a #20, the #22 will be a little more expensive
  3. Trying to complete the Beware series and one step closer since I got this awesome issue!
  4. Personally I like Heritage more than the others. While there is a buyer's premium tacked on, I have been able to get amazing deals on books for the years I have been purchasing from them. Maybe the BP is scaring some people away 😂 Secondly, I find it easy to follow their auctions on the website and the tracking works well for me. However, I have not sold or consigned with anyone yet, mostly through eBay although those fees are getting pretty annoying lately. Luckily none of the high end books I have sold have been through there, mostly IG or private transactions. But Rick is well known and I would have confidence that if I died tomorrow that my wife would be treated well by them for my collection.
  5. Bought my copy about a year and a half ago, crazy to see the leaps it has been doing recently!
  6. I agree, looks like significant water damage. 1.8 from what I am seeing.
  7. 7.5-8.0. looks like oxidation/sun shadow along the spine from the pics.
  8. I think it could get as high as a 1.5 so the seller wasn't too far off. Personally I don't think they used Overstreet guide to grading comics, or didn't factor in some of those more egregious issues with this book when they listed it.
  9. I've seen way worse get a 2.0, so I am going to say easily a 2.0. Congrats!
  10. One of the series I am trying to collect every issue of is Tomb of Terror. The #15 is insanely priced these days so that one might take me a bit. But I was able to get #16 in a nice mid-grade.
  11. A note on the label of it is a blue label is better than a green label IMO
  12. Another recent purchase of mine. Trying to collect this entire series and honestly I'm not too fussed about minor color touch on covers, especially for PCH books.
  13. Some very nice books in here! Seems like I found a good forum thread to be involved with!
  14. So do you think I should attempt to replace the Staples with vintage staples to avoid a Green label? I have the grading guide as well but am not sure if that would be a good idea.
  15. Not sure how far back "recent" means but I got a lot of PCH books last year that I just want to show off. Here is another one I got around my birthday right around when Covid hit. End of times and hell cover seemed to be fitting at the time...
  16. Not necessarily, they could also get a 1.0 depending on the readability of the book.
  17. I received a copy of a book from a friend that had a book graded by CGC back in the early 2000s. At the time it was a 9.0, but it was stored in a safe and unfortunately moisture collected in the safe and completely ate away at the staples until they disintegrated. When it was noticed, the book was then carefully cracked out of the slab to prevent any further damage. There doesn't seem to be any other effect to the book, not enough moisture to cause water spots, or any other water damage to the naked eye or under a loup. Very slight amount of rust migration around where the staples were is the only thing I could see. I've been curious about this for a bit, but seeing it was a 9.0 at one time, what are the thoughts on a new grade knowing that the staples are now no longer in the book?
  18. While it isn't high grade, it is one of my favorites in the PCH collection.
  19. Thanks all, you seem to confirm what I found while searching...nothing really on this topic! It is odd regarding these books since I am more of a Marvel and PCH guy, but got interested in some of these Whitman variants and these kind of piqued my interest.
  20. Hi all, long time collector, new to the forums (for some reason even though I've been a CGC member for years). Anyway, I just got this one back from CGC today and am pumped!
  21. Hello all, longtime collector, first time forum poster. So I have been trying to dig up information on DC Whitman variants and this thread has been very helpful. One lingering question I have is - has anyone been able to figure out print run numbers for the DC Whitman variants? I can try and dig out old Overstreet where Don wrote his article, but wasn't sure if there is something online to look or track these print runs. Any help is much appreciated!
