Kudos to phil50 for quick shipping, very nice book and being fantastic to deal with!!!

Matt,
Sorry this happened, get used to people lying, cheating and stealing for their benefit (or myriad other reasons). Because you don't do those things, I know it is a bit weird at first.
Some people here did not give you any advice, or kinda condescended you, get used to that as well as there are several dooshbags who know everything and place themselves before others on this forum etc. It is in the nature of some to put others down to make themselves feel better, for a bit.
Thankfully, there are more folks who tried to lend a hand and helped you!
You did nothing wrong, others did.
I bet you find a better 'Tec than the one that got away, eventually, so as Watson pointed out, you probably are the winner here!
A big part of this hobby is learning patience...as well as who to buy from.
Hope to see you all at the next Boston show (where I may get in as the promotors learned from the last one)!

awesome artworks!!! Keep them coming!

Ouch, that's embarrassing...to have the media come to your door...I wonder if that poor lady would have gotten any money if not for the press getting on it...I wonder if other people are owed...
Hate to be negative, but they deserve it...
Off the topic of Illustration House not paying consignors but employees who don't
leave a good taste (I almost called them to file a complaint, I may still):
There was a +spoon+ from Illustration House on CAF a couple of weeks ago searching wantlists...I got an email from him sounding pretty desperate, but unfortunately lying to try to sell stuff...(not exact quotes)...
'I'm saving for another auction and need to sell this piece for $12k, this is my best price and I am only offering it to you. I need it fast b/c the auction is coming soon'.
I guess collectors are dumb and don't talk to eachother in his mind...I found that he emailed a CAF friend with a similar but different story, but the price was now $8k...
Anyone else get one of those emails?
I can tell you who to steer clear from in PM. On CAF you can see the same artwork in both Illustration House gallery as well as his personal gallery.
Did anyone believe there might be professionalism at a gallery in NYC with expensive art...where employees wear a t-shirt and hat?
Anyway...I usually find the best artwork privately...or honorable dealer/collectors...auction houses like this and H leave me wanting to shower...but not with any of you...

Finally nailed one of the earlier HOMs.

my guess is some of you guys would be interested...DC has been putting out a Tales of the Unexpected mini series, issue #3 just came out this week...it is great!!! there are two stories in each issue- one concerning the Spectre and the other with Dr.Thirteen...
in the Dr.13 stories, many characters (including the primate patrol from WWT - hahahah! and Jeb Stuart ) from all of the horror/mystery/weird war titles show up...such a treat to be reading and then see those old characters brought back!!! i was cheering!
anyway, i highly recommend you check it out!!!

Tought I share my recent score with the Bronze Horror thread. My second Nick Cardy horror cover.

the showcase presents 'House of Mystery'' reprints that came out this week is fantastic!!!
highly recommend! looks good in black and white to me...
all the memories flooding in after looking through it....mmm

very nice books! thank you for always sharing. !
my lady actually likes the Witching Hour (maybe b/c she is a witch), allows me to
keep a HoM #174 scan at the front door (daring anyone to enter, haha) , and also horror comic scans for each season or holiday have a place at the front door and can be viewed from outside.
right now there is a scan of Witching Hour #28 (the santa claus cover) along with the HoM #174.
to top it off, the outgoing message on our answering machine made by her : you have reached xxxxx and ryan at the house of mystery etc.
haha, makes me smile...
Have a shining Solstice, happy Yule, and blessed New Year!!!
