What about the movies story do you feel was destroyed? Or do you mean 'destroyed' as in the relation to the comic story?

I would define it as one having to do with superheroes, which Watchmen has, and I'm sure there are many who would agree with you. I don't, but of course it's all just personal preference.

Of course, many here think 'Civil War' is the greatest superhero movie ever made and... ugh, I just found that to be garabage.

I would definitely consider it a superhero movie, and for my money would be ranked #1.  It isn't just a superhero movie, it's a criticalview of the themes of hubris, might v. right, ends justifying means, noblesse oblige, and paternalistic corporate overreach.  Iron Man or Spider-Man can't hold an intellectual candle to that, they're just fun entertainment  with cool noise and visuals (which are great, but in a very different way).

I posted a drawing my daughter did a few years ago in this thread. It led to a commission request from a kind board member and my daughter struggled and stressed about it for a while until finally declining the commission. She said she couldn't get the likenesses of the Shaun of the Dead guys. Now she kills likenesses and paints like a dream. So when I saw this thread getting some action I asked her if I could post a recent painting (she had a mixed media piece I love but it is off in a traveling exhibition for a year or so!) and she said fine but she didn't want any commissions! I let that go (she is just warming to opening an etsy although I think she'll just do her own website). This is about 20x25 or so.

She is off to Pratt Institute in the fall for fine arts painting program and that all started with me bringing her to comic conventions and making her watch as artists sketched for me. (She was penciling, inking and then erasing the pencil at a very young age.)

Very cool.  Art school is lots of fun, hope she enjoys it.  Hopefully she'll come around on commissions.  Making art is like playing sports - it's fun, but when you do it and sell it, it's like fun on crack.  You make someone else happy, and you realize (ie make real) the value of doing it.

This is what I mean about seeing what you want in symbolism.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.  But yeah, Ozymandius is symbolized hubris from Shelley's poem, I don't see much reflective of Moby in his character.  I think a better argument could be made for Rorshach being Ahab.

  4. That's in great shape.  Can't see the bottom right corner in any of the pics, but the only issues I see are a small color break at the spine near the '68', both spine corners are a bit worn (bottom left worse than top left), and the worst is the little tear in Colossus's hair.  I don't really know what I'm doing but I'd say 7.5 - 8.

For an e-bay store I'd think any of the three would be perfectly fine.  I'm sure there is some subliminal stuff at work but who really looks at e-bay logos when buying books?  "That guys logo is bad so I better pass up on this X-Men 1 for $200".

Logos are meant to be eye catchers, and memory and association triggers, not part of product though.  One isn't trying to get a person to buy because they like the logo, one is trying to visually appeal, make a customer stop the mindless scroll through.  Then, every time that person scrolls any further listing, that logo will attract them even more as they've associated it with something that is of interest to them.  If they then buy something and have a pleasant experience, that logo is associated with making them feel good.

Thanks for this link! It is really helpful! I already found several on the list. MUCHO GRACIAS!

No problem.  Keep in mind that list is a count of cgc graded copies, it doesn't necessarily mean each one has enough value to be graded or really be more than a few bucks raw.  It's just a starting point to narrow down instead of looking up every single book.

Perhaps if you have a printer at home that can scan, you could scan to give a better representation.....as of now I'd say 8.0-8.5 just because in you 2nd pic, the close up of the spine by Cable's shoulder, there appears to be a spine tic.

Scans are the best, or at least the best possible; otherwise, maybe quality pics outside of the bag and board, either way scan or pic---take it out of the bag and board first----if you do have a scanner, lay a peice of printer paper over the comic when scanning :)

    Hope this helps

I'll get some out of the bag pictures.  I don't think that's a spine tic but a line of color that wraps to the back side of the spine, but a bagless pic will help with that for sure.  I had no idea spine tics were so deadly.

    Thanks for checking it out!

ETA:  You are right, it is a spine tic.  Good eye!  I got another shot of the interior page, I'll upload soon.
