Too bad every single auction for that variant to #1 has been shilled to high heaven.

Yeah, but those were all for the same book. It's a CGC'ed 9.6 with blurry pictures that keeps getting re-listed, and that might be on the seller though, may be should have set minimum feedback requirements for bidders. I didn't read anything about minimum feedback in his description.

For those that don't understand the Rick and Morty phenom, just go to a con and look around. Whether you know it or not, you're probably seeing characters from it. Its fanbase is passionate, loyal and growing. I think the only thing standing in its way is the writers/creators. They have taken a long time between the 2nd/3rd season. Hopefully its just to make the season great and they will continue the series for years to come.

Anyway, I think there is still an investment opportunity in Issue #1 if you get a raw on eBay for under $130 in NM or better if you can eyeball one that looks like it could be NM+ or NM/M. Ive seen some that look like they could be there. Some of the variants might be investments too, but look for rarity there.

When season three hits and more people start watching all the season, I think the prices will go up some more on these.

I think the #1D (1:50 I think) is just ridiculous right now and I don't see how it could go higher really.

I actually wondered recently if the delay in season 3 may actually increase the demand for the comics. I figured a lot of fans might start looking for any Rick and Morty content they can find. The writing in the comics can't really compare to the show, but there's some really great stories in there.

And, I totally agree with you on there still being an investment opportunity on the raws at the $130 range. I think what really drives the prices on these books up is the fact that many of the people seeking them out don't really collect comics, they just want collectible Rick and Morty memorabilia.

Not sure where that 1:50 will go price wise, I wouldn't be surprised if it got into a ridiculous price range. I could see hardcore Rick and Morty fans overpaying for this book big time, especially if they don't come to market often. I actually sold a #5 first print to some guy for $65 a couple of days ago, because he HAD to have it to complete his run. That book is worth $25, but he NEEDED it, so he knowingly and quite happily paid more than double its value.

  3. Not sure if anyone has mentioned these yet, but the first five issues of Rick and Morty have been pretty hot for the past couple of months, and some of the first issue variants. I think the 1:50 variant is in the $1000 range. It's a pretty recent book and I never see any back issues at local comic shops anymore.

  4. Hey, so I was wondering if anyone has heard anything else about this. It's been a year since it's been released, I was curious if any more of these have surfaced. I haven't been able to find any information on it, other than two old ebay listings. The one posted before and this one from the UK

  5. So I guess these have hit the streets already. I just saw a few of these at Frank and Sons Collectible show this weekend. Some dude had them up for sale yesterday. I probably should have asked him what the price was on a few a them. I'd be curious to find out if he was looking for them to hold their value or if those suddenly became $5 books.

    understandable :)

seems like I remember that it was dicontinued or that it all of a sudden wasn't going to be for sale anymore.... I don't think that I ever found out why either....

Well, assuming the guy who messaged me on ebay really was the owner of Islander comics, the explanation that I got was that apparently someone at his shop set up the whole deal for that shop exclusive variant set without his knowledge. And I guess when the order arrived nobody was interested in paying for it, and he got DC and Diamond to take the entire order back.

He told me he wasn't sure what happened to the books, and that he sent the entire shipment back to DC.

  7. I just heard back from the guy who messaged me, and he confirmed that apparently this was unreleased. Here's what he said:

"LOL...sorry about that. I thought it was included in the message (the auction page). Big mess with that book. An ex close friend of mine made this order with DC for the book without my permission. Diamond and DC accepted the order without checking with me first. He represented himself as a purchaser of the company. He didnt have funds to cover so when it came billed to me he bailed. It was a pretty expensive order otherwise I might have purchased the books myself. DC and Diamond took the books back and I didnt have to pay for anything fortunately. But I had to send the whole order back. I guess I could of ask to keep at least a set for myself...Oh well. I tried to keep track of this item and see if any pop up anywhere on the internet. Thanks for the input."

So I guess my question now is, has anyone seen any of these books around? He said he sent them all back. But I ended up with a couple of them so I doubt they were just thrown out.

And also, does anyone have any idea what this might be worth?

  8. Unreleased variant? Is this really unreleased?

Hey, pretty new to the forums still. This is my second post. Definitely could use some insight on this.

So, I received a bunch of comics from a friend recently as a gift. And I put a few of them up on ebay to get a little extra money for school. A few of them were Justice League vs. Suicide Squad 1 virgin variants. Today, I got a message from some guy who says he's Islander comics and this was an exclusive variant meant for him, and he had to send these all back to DC. And he was curious how I got it. Needless to say I looked it up and found an article on bleeding cool about this not being released.

So, does anyone know anything else about this comic? Did I somehow end up with one of the only copies?

  9. Unreleased DK III #2 Variant?

Hey, this if my first post on this forum. Not sure if I'm posting this in the right section, but hopefully one of you guys can shine some light on this.

I was recently given some DC comics from a friend. I was told they were all Variants. But I found a DK III #2 in there that I couldn't identify. It looks like the original cover but the background is in color. I couldn't find any mention of it or pictures of it anywhere. I took a picture of it. I was just wondering if this is a known variant or not since I couldn't find any info on it.

    thanks

    Mike
