Spoiler
Just finished reading issue 705. I loved it. Jane Foster's death was worth the wait. I have no idea what is coming next in the story line. Curious to see what happens even in the next issue. What are your thoughts?
Very likely to be spoilers. don't read this thread if you don't want spoilers.

I thought about the children's hospital cover but at some point i have to just say no more variant chasing.
-
I already had these ordered before the announcement....
2 ross covers
Kirkham variant
Dell'otto variant
Young guns variant
I think im covered. I dont like virgin covers and im not shelling out tons of cash for deleted text.

never ordered from comicxposure. Ordered on ebay through drewbizz. First order with this seller, so hopefully he packages it well.

nothing like praying to the postage gods. Hoping when I get mine in the mail it is in superb condition.

Maybe MJ becomes the red goblin. Red hair = Red goblin
-
796 variant will have long term value. First red goblin cover. But it ends there with 796.

This feels like ASM #700 to me, which can sell for $40 on a good day now. But mostly hovers around $25.
Nothing happened in #700. It was more of a nostalgia book at the time.
However, who knows, its all speculation until it comes out. But.....80 pages in 800. Something memorable better happen. No one is reading 80 pages of fluff.
-
Just throwing this out there.....
798: Filler/setup issue. Nothing to see here
799: red goblin cameo, likely on last page or two.
800: first full red goblin. Milestone issue in terms of hitting 800 issues plus first full red goblin. Someone probably dies. "The money book"
That is straight guess work but that's how i would do it if i was writing this arc.
-
Why 795?
In my opinion, "the money book" hasnt revealed itself yet.

I really like black covers. But.....for grading purposes I think they are a nightmare. Black makes every single little defect stand out. I bought two copies of ASM 797 Alex Ross Cover and the top left corner in both of them does not hold up under a magnifying glass. My eyes deceived me at my LCS.
I would feel ridiculous if I brought a magnifying glass to my LCS. Do you think getting a 9.8 on this cover is going to be crazy hard because of the black cover? I was considering sending the nicer of my two copies to cgc but will probably pass now that I have had a chance to really inspect it.

You mean Norman Osborn right?
Personally, I agree that in issues #795 and #796, we see Norman Osborn as Carnage. He doesn't appear in his Green Goblin costume, nor does he even have access to those powers/psyche for much of those issues due to the nanites. Thus, to date there has not been a 1st appearance of the Red Goblin to speak of imo.

Spoiler
No red goblin in 797. The book that will take off, value wise, has not been released yet in my opinion.
I believe 795 and 796 will end up not being worth it. Market inflated the value because of hype. Not sustainable. Nothing in those books that is memorable. No red goblin.

Coming from someone who collects graded baseball cards, all psa, i do not want psa grading my comics.
I hope psa never gets involved with comics but where there is a chance to make a buck, they will be there.

When purchasing a comic graded by cgc, does the age of the case matter? Does it have any effect on the value? Do you have a preference?
Or, as long as the case is clean and clear, it does not matter.
Just wondering.

For me, it would be the color breaking creases and the small hole which appears to be bigger problems as compared to the defects on Book A.
But then again, that's just my own opinion for what it's worth.
I don't know if the staple tear will get worse over time, even with it being slabbed. That is my main concern. I would like to display the comic but not sure if that is possible with a small top staple tear. See photo of staple tear.
-
CGC notes says small tear top staple (see photo). Would this deter you from purchasing?
Also, since it is slabbed, is it likely that the tear will not get any worse? Or will it worsen no matter what?
-
Since it is slabbed, would that prevent the small staple tear from worsening?

light creasing to cover
light spine stress lines to cover
small tear top stapleComic Book B
light cover tanning to cover
moderate spine stress lines breaks color
small, light hole left top of front cover breaks color
small, light, multiple crease left bottom of front cover breaks colorWhich one would you choose?

It did not have that in the listing. Pretty disappointed when I opened the package. Seller said it was not like that when he shipped it. All in all, seller has been pretty understanding. I have decided to return it.
-
For some reason, I can not upload the photos. I keep getting an error message.
There is an overhang at the bottom. The seller on ebay has told me he would accept a return. To be honest, I do not want to return it as I got it in a grade I want at a price I wanted to pay. Returning it is a pretty defeating feeling. However, I am not happy with the top of the comic. I don't know what is going on there.
If anyone is interested, I could email the photographs. Any help is appreciated. Just trying to figure out if I should return it.
