  1. Once you've picked the best books, the rest might be perfect trade bait for you to get silver/bronze.
  2. Lone Ranger would be really high on my collecting list too. Tomahawk always gets put in with westerns but I tend to think of it as a war comic since it's almost always vs the Redcoats in the ones I remember. Also, it's in the East...
  3. For broad GA inventory, low, middle, decently high, I like two west coast dealers, Terry's Comics and A-1.
  4. Planning on a mini campaign this summer but going to play CV two times first--a very detailed, complicated Battle of Midway game from 1979. Now the computers take away a lot of the tedium that the old school war games had.
  5. Erik's response: As far as commissions go—I usually do them on the spot—I don’t take names beforehand and I don’t draw anything prior to shows. I’ve been charging $100 for head sketches and $200 for full figures.
  6. All the slabs have been recovered except the Pictorial Romances.
  7. Great questions. I'll try to find out. It might be slow enough that he can knock out some sketches but not the commissions that I believe on a multiday show he goes to the hotel and finishes that night.
  8. I'll start the new thread soon. Looks like minimum four new vendors for June who weren't at the April show Probably end up being more like six.. #keepingitfresh
  9. Happy to say we have Erik Larsen as guest of honor for the June 30th show. He is a serious, serious vintage comic book fan. His twitter feed is outstanding too. So much knowledge.
  10. Obvious rental vehicle (nobody drives an elongated SUV like that in Berkeley) at a tourist restaurant in a basically deserted, crime ridden area of town (the marina) just off the highway (for easy getaway) in an area (SF/Berkeley/Oakland) that is utterly plagued by car break ins where they just grab the tourist suitcases and backpacks and take off in two minutes. And done by guys who have priors for this exact crime. As is very typical in cases like this, they take it to a store the next day and get caught. Non-comic people have no idea how recognizable the expensive books can be.
  11. Next show is Sunday, June 30th. Also, please chime in for future shows whether Saturday or Sunday is better for everyone.
  12. Thanks for coming everyone. That was super fun. Hopefully Tim has a few pics. I got to talk to Landry Walker for a minute at the end--he was sweet as ever and is a big fan of our show. My family really enjoyed talking to him at his table and buying his Wonder Woman book.
  13. 1) At the very least, Cape and Cowl Comics, a great downtown Oakland shop, does submissions. They are at the show (as is Heroes and A-1, who may offer this service). 2) John/Edger/WOW is going to have his biggest set up yet and I'm impressed at all the new books I'm hearing about. So not only do we have like seven vendors who weren't at the January show, but the regulars keep bringing in the goods. 3) Looking like a beautiful dry 65 degree day in Berkeley tomorrow. Again, we have a sweet parking lot at this venue, right off the highway and only a few blocks from North Berkeley BART.
  14. I believe I learned this around age nine from reading a DC treasury reprinting the Joker story from Batman 4. The Joker's accomplices are acrobats who hit the ground with a roll to absorb the impact. Ie, the opposite of tensed up. Which is the clue that leads Batman to realizing they are with the circus.
