That does sound like damage from being impacted within the well.
I was thinking about getting the bend pressed. Do you have any recommendations for pressers experienced with correcting this issue?

It's been my experience that scans like the one above are artifacts of the shadowing that the plastic holding tab casts on the edge of the book How does this example above look in person - is the edge actually bent all along the near-entirety of the bottom edge, or is it flat and natural looking?
So while overhangs are certainly vulnerable to being damaged by shaken comic syndrome, scans like the one above aren't necessarily examples of it.
You can see the bend along the bottom of the book in person. The bends do not exist at the corners where there is more space.

I have other slabs with spine ticks without any noticeable bend issues. I’m curious if other people had similar experiences with these impressions appearing after sending in their books. I'm just surprised they allowed mine to retain its 9.8 grade.

I've had different results from CGC for this type of damage. In one submission of 25 books with this type of damage, I usually got a 9.0 or 9.2. In my latest submission of 25 books, I got many 9.6s and 9.8s, although with somewhat smaller effects than pictured in this thread (you can see a montage of this submission in the Back From CGC thread). So, is it different graders, or different standards at different times? I don't know.
Here's one theory I have has a presser. Fresh off the press, these types of bends tend to disappear as a result of the press, and with careful handling will stay hidden. But the slightest force in the wrong direction can reintroduce them. It's possible that these books are handled carefully all the way through the grader, and then maybe the forces get applied during later handling and encapsulation and the bends reappear.
These spine ticks and bends were not present prior to sending the book to CGC. I sent it back at no cost for a press and regrade, but it remained a 9.8. The photo below shows the spine ticks and bends prior to the press and regrade in its slab before going back to CGC.

I was unsure if these triangular looking markings were common and caused by any of CGC’s equipment during encapsulation. I’m probably better off keeping the book in its current slab. It has frail edges and I would hate to lose any pieces if they had to replace the inner well too. If they’re debris, they seem to be outside the well and don’t move. I appreciate all the help!

If it was your submission, you have 14 days to question any QC concerns. I don't know if CGC will do anything about it now, but you could email customer service to find out.
Thank you for the information. I was unaware that they were having quality concerns with debris in their slabs.

Those look to be plastic shards and debris that was showing up in slabs for a while, maybe still happening. Is this a book you received back just now?
The book was slabbed about 2 months ago. Some of the triangles are more prominent than others. They almost look like blemishes in the plastic since they’re all similar in shape and the way light reflects off of them. I’m not able to get any of them to move either.

Has anyone noticed small triangular-shaped markings inside their CGC slabs? At first, I thought they were plastic flakes trapped inside, but there are at least a dozen, some of which are clustered together. My inner well is slightly loose and the markings do not move along with it. I'm assuming they're on the inner part of the slab itself. Some are more obvious than others due to their location. Any thoughts?

If it makes any difference to you there are thousands of Universal graded (higher grade too) X-Men #266 out there. Your Strange Adventure #205 not so much.
-
According to gocollect’s website, FMV for X-Men #266 (CGC 9.4) is $160 and Silver Surfer #3 (CGC 2.5) is $110. Your Strange Adventures #205 is “valued” at $210.
However, if you’re solely after Gambit’s first full appearance, you should be able to find a CGC 9.6 for under $200.
Go with what you would value the most.

Does anyone know what E. Gerber Mylites2 bag fits a CGC graded Marvel Graphic Novel?

Well, in that case, any opinions offered would be speculation. I see enough spine creases that makes me think, for a 9.2, they gave the staples a pass.
I found a 9.2 on eBay which appears to have the same issue. I wonder if this is a common occurrence with this book. If so, it would make me feel better knowing that I didn’t just purchase a damaged book.

Though I don't agree with them, CGC is usually pretty lenient on recessed staples. You really need to get the notes to see if they downgraded for it. Personally, I hate the look of recessed staples. I think it sometimes can be bindery, not sure if this book is famous for it ? In this case, that top staple is pretty severe.
Unfortunately, this book has no grader notes. I’m assuming that’s because all the flaws are obvious.

Makes you wonder what HPB paid to the person who sold them those books
I was thinking the same thing

I've seen key's at HPB, but none as overpriced as that ...
....but such as ASM #16 "F" range priced at $150, Y the Last Man #1 VF priced at $125, Savage Sword of Conan #1 "F" priced at $100...Green Lantern (first starfire, whichever issue that was) priced at $100....
The tend to over price in the very good to fine range.....
The ASM #129 looked to be a GD- at best.

I noticed a copy of Green Lantern #76 displayed in one of their cases. The asking price is $3,000! They also have a copy of ASM #129 but it has water damage. They want $400 for it.
Has anyone else found key issues like these before at Half Price Books? The many years I've been going there, this is a first.

I'm submitting three books for grading. One of the books I will have pressed prior to grading. Does anyone know if I need to ship the press book separate from the other two books or can they all go in one shipping box?
