  1. Hard to find without the staples being indented , and/or a transfer stain . This issue has staple "issues" Looks like yours is pretty clean , is the bottom staple indented?
  2. I would say that virtually every ASM sold for insane prices so I would put this one out to a speculator buying multiple copies. Anytime there is a set of high grade in one place it just takes one to drive the prices up. Or the copy is purposely under graded and bought by insiders.......... Ahem..... Whatever the case they are nuts to pay that price for a 9.0 , if it is genuine . Wink... Oh and interestingly enough the Other guys slabs sold for far under market, and some were some very sharp looking copies .
  3. I have when Ideal Collectibles was selling it at SDCC around 2001 I believe. The speculation is true in this case it is an over-graded copy in my opinion , their is a pretty decent color breaking stress line in the middle of the spine. Not something I would expect to see in a 9.9. The only other 9.9 I have seen besides modern was Terry's ASM 19 and that copy is unbelievable, CGC missed the mark on the 181 .
  4. Its in the middle of the spine and runs into the cover, not sure how it would have happened post slabbing. Your logic is sound though, not sure. The only real slab damage I have seen is inner well indentation, that happens very frequently. I am sure someone has a scan of the 181 , we can pull the grader notes There should be none for that copy(Like most 9.8-10) unless they call out a stress line then we are really onto something, Either way is a noticeable defect and the Professor's 9.8 is a superior copy hands down at a fraction of the price,
  5. That 9.9 has one major color breaking stress line on the spine. I almost bought it from Ideal until i held it in my hands, CGC should be ashamed of themselves.
  6. Opening the book out of the inner well sleeve would be harder in my mind , but I suppose those skilled in the dark arts are capable
  7. That is one UGLY back cover with that chipping looking at it closer, methinks that is a reason the res is different from the front to the back.
  8. Speaking of 13'S....Anyone see this copy? http://www.ebay.com/itm/FANATASTIC-FOUR-13-CGC-9-6-OWW-1ST-WATCHER-APPEARANCE-CGC-1039694001-/311943735583?hash=item48a14ba91f:g:iA4AAOSwwe9Zm1OI Comiclink also has a 13 9.4 coming up. That White Mountain 9.2 is amazing ...i remember when this was impossible to find in very high grade
  9. Its a gorgeous copy and as any copy with stamp dates it will underperform. 14 is a tricky issue IMHO , it's easy to overpay , and overgraded copies are everywhere
  10. Thats a nice book you have for sale, any issues with the interior? Not often I can ask the OO. Did storms buy it with the collection or is a consignment item?
  11. Certainly, how about a matching serial number on the micro chamber paper?
  12. That Cap 100 9.9 is quite the copy, Scott @Colorado Comics has it now amidst his unbelievable ASM run, including AF15 9.6,
  13. Biggest pet peeve I have with him are the SS books he gets . I guess it is a personal preference but to me a signature added to a 9.8 top census book detracts away from its eye appeal. He has a 121 for sale that is one of the best looking copies I have seen and would have bought it at his absurd asking price without the signature, to each their own I guess.
  14. Very nice book there, I would be curious if the saturation was messed with on his photo settings. As with all his books they are priced high, but would not surprise me to see this one sell sooner then later. He certainly has the gift of creative writing
  15. GA Keys and fav covers , a handful of big players.
  16. Very nice back cover as well, even nicer when that tape is removed ,I have a pet peeve about miswraps or I would have snagged it. In my experience books like these with a back cover defect and a sharp front cover without marvel chipping, any major creases and superior page quality are strong resale candidates.
  17. On the lower end side, this is a great deal at 19k for anyone looking to join the club, I think it would be a very good candidate for a bump as well. Just my .02
  18. Real Estate is a risky investment comparatively , thanks for the kind words, Didn't you snag a nice AF15 from Bob recently? CONGRATS!
  19. You should check the Bethlehem copy CC is auctioning off, I think it will underperform , alternatively how about a NM copy instead?
  20. I am dumbfounded why any of the grading companies don't use a secondary counter measure like a color changing plastic , or adding cross referencing numbers to the book itself.
  21. Let's just say that they were unfairly compensated. On an AF15 note, it appears that this copy is up for grabs again , it is trimmed. The other guys missed that, the original was CGC graded and purchased by an ex forum member who is notorious for shenanigans. Just some insight on a book that could have had the resto removed if he hadn't been so greedy and tried to flip it as unrestored Ah...I wasn't aware of the filters in place for the other guys, that is pretty silly stuff.
