I will throw my two cents in the ring in the hope that CGC reverses this poorly considered move.

THE WHOLE POINT OF SLABBING IS SO THAT PEOPLE KNOW WHAT THEY ARE BUYING!!!!

You have now hidden all these defects from buyers. Why would I want to slab a book for sale now? Buyer would want the grader notes.

If I am buying a slabbed book I will have to track down the grader notes. I don't mind most things but will not buy a book with tape. Now how do I know if it has tape of not??? Extra time to find the notes, if I can.

This destroys a ton of credibility for CGC slabbed books. It looks like things are being hidden. It is not good.

This looks like what an unscrupulous seller would do - not disclose things.

    Very bad idea.

    Completely agree.

If CGC doesn't want to mention the defects on the front cover than they should definitely do it on the back cover.

You're the one who wants to return it, I agree with the seller in this case.  Lose a $100 or lose $14K?  take your pick.  At least he took it back.  sheesh.

I purchased a 9.8 not a 9.0 in a slab of 9.8 , so why am i the responsible one? Its their fault for not inspecting before shipping it to me. So relax with your sheesh...

    Happy Holidays!

But you never answered Foolkiller's question:

"When you shipped it back did comic connect agree to actually take it back?  Or did you ship it just asking for a refund?"

I emailed Vincent with pictures and he told me to send it back. I mailed it out the same day by priority overnight. Btw I don't think they will refund me for the shipping :(

Pretty much what I was going to say.

It presents as a much lower grade copy, despite what the 9.8 sticker, or the seller themselves,  might claim.

Yup. I’d look at the situation from the opposite perspective; as overpaying for a 9.0 or such by $1000s, not receiving a 9.8 at a price reduced by $1000s below GPA.  Misdirection, not a ‘bargain’, especially if the seller failed to provide Nick with a back cover scan and full disclosure.

Difficult to believe that anyone who owns an UHG, extremely expensive key would've been unaware of this when they thought about consigning the book to an auction site.

I guess that's why the price was so low, i shipped it back today.
