What about the worthless but nostalgicly lovely Marvel Hologram cards from the 90s?

I Wouldn't get rid of any of them. Frank Miller is a legend, why would you ditch them at all?

AH ok that makes more sense. I was wondering for a minute there. But yeah, you're right. Collectors seem to be all about the speculation and BS reasoning. Again, D23 Marvel 1000 is I think the pinnacle of the sillyness. Still blows my mind that Old Man Logan series isn't worth more.

Did you seriously just suggest that a good story shouldn't have any input on value? Seriously? I'd much rather collect a book with a killer story with a monster cover, than some random BS book that happens to be "rare" just because they didn't print many. See the D23 Marvel 1000 as a great example of a mediocre (at best) book with an artificially inflated value.

You're right Jennifer, I got my terms confused. Thanks for the clarification, appreciate that! Regarding having no plans for it, I think it should be run up the flagpole. I submitted a bunch of books for the Todd signing, and the press they got was really weak, resulting in lower grades. I wwas told my only option is to send them back and have CCS do them again. Why? They are likely just going to do the same thing and my grades won't change. Authorizing a few pressers to crack witness books would benefit a lot of your customers.

That doesn't seem true, sorry. A witness authorized by CGC (store I guess, or whatever) can crack a yellow label and add a signature too, and have it resubmitted too, and it doesn't have to be at the CGC booth. I've had it done quite often. So what I don't understand, is why can't CGC give some of the pressing companies out there with the same authority? CCS is not very good compared to the top pressing and cleaning guys out there, so why not authorize them as witnesses so people can get their SS books done for a potential higher grade?

So I've learned that a CGC Witness can crack a slab and get a second signature added, but they can't crack it and press it for regrading? What the hell is that? I was then told that the only ones that can crack an SS book and press it are CCS. Look its lovely that CCS offers pressing and all that, but they aren't anywhere near the best. My books for the McFarlane signing would have been better pressed by a fat guy sitting on them in a sauna. What is the logic in not certifying pressers to do SS books? Sign then up the same way you do regular witnesses, same criteria. At least they'll do it right.

Its true, the jump is big mostly I think due to the sheer size of hte book and how many have popped corners. But that wasn't what I meant. I mean that its been going up each time one comes up for sale over the last year. Last one sold at 381 on comiclink. Just trying to figure out why.

Yeah, actually. Does such a good job of showing the sheer psychosis of the Joker, while pushing the idea that the Joker only exists as a result of the Batman. Its brilliant in its execution. I will almost guarantee that covers compared against it are not done on artistic merit, but through nostalgia or key-importance. For example, somebody will undoubtedly say Hulk 181, but honestly its a cover...

340 has a reason to be key though, 2nd battle between the two. Nothing really happens thats too crazy in this.

I would argue that this cover would easily land in the top 10 list of all time.

Not a fan, AT ALL. I don't like this new breed of photo reference repainters. Just seems cheap. Take a photo of some chick off the web, paint on some superhero outfit, call it a day. Same comparison between Boris and Frazetta. Jiminez's virgin cover for Batman 90 is 10x more impressive to me.

Interesting book that's been going up steadily without much fanfare...Hulk 345. Classic McFarlane cover, maybe this is Todd's Hulk version of Batman 423? Not key but rising? I was pissed that I bought one last year at 226...but a 9.8 just sold for 381 on Comiclink....and they're rising on eBay too....265...275... Absolutely NO idea why

Its handy having an estimated grade on the listings for sure. I know Peter under-grades too, so usually they come back better. But its still a subjective thing. I know that I've bought from various dealers that had estimated grades on them, and receiving the books theres no way that its what they said. I think Paradise does the opposite, but its still a pain dealing with mouth breathing insufficiently_thoughtful_persons that argue. Its easier to just let the customer check for themselves I guess. Besides, for me unless its in a plastic case with a grade on it, its just a nm book that I'm taking a gamble on.

They killed their ebay because there was a technical error with ebay itself, and their auctions weren't being seen by the full audience. Their stuff was going for under 50% of what it should, like Punisher Limited Series 1 for $100. THey fought for months with Ebay, and it never got solved. They aren't the only store that happened to either. I know of at least 1 other that had the same issue.

Terrified to ask...but how much?
