Believe me, my intention when I when to the Kim Jung Gi's signing at Center Stage Gallery last summer wasn't to buy the biggest and the baddest KJG drawing I can find. On the contrary, I had a budget in mind, I was looking for a modest piece. I started out by getting a KJG hardcover sketch book like everybody else. I remember there wasn't any published pieces beside the Marvel's Civil War II cover and some Spy Games interior pages, a french hardcover comic. Everything else, was sketches from his book. I did put a down payment on a piece (picture below) that evening and was happy with my purchase. That all changed, once I got home and started watching KJG on YouTube. I clicked on "Civil War II Covers Come to Life with Artist Kim Jung Gi!" I was in wonder and in amazement that the Marvel CW II piece a the gallery is on the Marvel Entertainment channel on YouTube. Soon after, re-watching the YouTube clip a couple of times, that high price tag for the CW II on the gallery wall doesn't seem that high to me anymore. The context of that piece had changed. I started to see the value. This took place on the heel of the 2016 San Diego Comic Con. I realized I have to act quickly if I ever have a chance to acquired the piece. Two days later, I when back to the gallery and upgraded my original purchase to the Marvel CW II piece. I when onto my summer vacation, and I was fully content with my decision. Six weeks later, I when to pick up the artwork and had a chat with Tina, the gallery owner, she stated that KJG and his team was at another convention and was approached by Stan Lee which he inquired about the Marvel CW II piece. I later confirmed that statement that Tina made at CTN eXpo that fall with KGJ's team.
