  1. I definitely think being from Neil's collection adds some premium to these. Plus they're some of the best examples. I'd have paid more for many of these than I would have in the open market, had any of them been in my current budget.
  2. That Muth piece was a steal though. Absolutely striking. I think that's the only one that's gone lower than expected. Just bad timing for me or I'd have gladly have shelled out $13k for it.
  3. Really good podcast. Thank you for the early Christmas gift! Dave's takes are always interesting, even though he's at the opposite end of the collecting pool from me. I really liked that he shared his rationale on the pieces to let go of. For all the debate on the board about artistic quality vs. nostalgia, I thought it was really cool that his reasoning for a lot of the pieces was that the issue just didn't have any nostalgia for him. It made for a really good real-life example of weighing the two.
  4. Yeah, I thought that one was really nice as well. His X-Factor and the first few issues of Uncanny were him at his absolute prime. I thought some of the price was because it was the 1st full Bishop issue. Not technically a first appearance, but sometimes gets marketed like it is.
  5. I thought some of the X-Men art ended strong though. The last page to X-Men 3 at $84K was much more than I would have guessed. Even though it's got a decent team shot and is significant as the last Claremont page.
  6. We'll be there again, as always. I'm not sure it'll be a big year art-wise, but I always stop by the comic art display for at least a little while to check things out.
  7. Really well! When I was planning through what I wanted to consign, I made a list of all the pieces I was considering and the amounts I could reasonably expect for them to go for. Out of 58 pieces, all but a handful were above what I had expected. Many were 2x or more of what I expected. I'm usually pretty good at estimating, but it was a crazy time and almost impossible to predict how things would end up auction to auction. Overall I ended up 70% above. The only duds - I ended up even with what I paid on a Silvestri X-Men page, though I probably overpaid originally and should have held onto it. And I had a page go for literally $1. It was inks on blueline and nothing I was really attached to, but I was still shocked it didn't go for more than a dollar.
  8. My first time selling anything through an auction house was last year and I went with Heritage. I was a little apprehensive as a first timer, but they walked me through each step of the process. Super white glove on their part, and I'm not a high-roller at all.
  9. Yeah, it's probably worth at least $250 in trade value now
  10. I never got the chance to meet him, but I've definitely heard several stories about him. Very sad to hear. RIP.
  11. D- for character design but A+ for nostalgia (like a lot of 80's Marvel) Congrats on a really cool piece! Fun to have a piece that actually shows the Beyonder.
  12. I don't think I've ever seen one for sale over the years. Maybe Steve Parkhouse kept them all?
  13. Some really nice ones in there! I'd have torn out the Suydam too.
  14. Yeah there are better pages in the book, certainly. But when was the last time a page from this book came up publicly? If one of the others came up, they'd likely go even higher. Any page with Dream on it from anywhere in the series gets a pretty huge bump, even if it's not good at all. And there aren't many issues with Death I can't see this one going for under 100.
  15. I think that Lucifer one may be a little high, but the Death page will go for much higher. Death's been a much bigger thing for longer, and is far more important of a character to a lot of people. How many cosplays or commissions do you see of Lucifer Morningstar vs. Death? And this checks all the boxes of what you'd want - first appearance, great page, and even interacting with Dream. I'd say maybe 150 for the Death one
