I’m selling some of my original comic art collection through the Heritage Auction site. As well as finding it interesting, as I'm selling stuff for the first time rather than buying, I'm also fascinated by what now goes into these Wednesday auctions. The bigger auctions that finish on the weekend and have catalogue advertising used to be the standard. Not so long ago several of my pages would have easily graced those auctions as would a number of other sales lots, like the Mignola story on sale. Now it seems there is an extreme high end price point and those auctions are becoming compressed down more and more into resales of the same pages or anything that recently flared up as a hot item. It makes wonder how long that type of pricing is sustainable.
