The Marvel Cinematic Universe threequel is seeing a $15M second Friday, -69%, for a 3-day of $54M-$55M (-54%) at 4,450 locations. The second weekend hold isn’t that far from GOTG2‘s and GOTG‘s weekend 2 of -55%, however, the former pic’s second weekend was higher at $65.2M while GOTG did $42.1M. GOTG3‘s running tally by Sunday is looking to hit $207.9M. >$300M US on tap, w/ 40/60% split >$750M WW

    Deadline update: The James Gunn Marvel Studios title is spotting $47M-$48M today, including $17.5M previews, for what will hopefully be a $110M start at 4,450 theaters. One analyst tells us that dollar for dollar that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is looking a lot like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Both movies did about $37M in presales with the latter debuting to $106.1M (which was a franchise record opening) over its Friday-Sunday.

    Ouch, if accurate- EDIT: it wasn't, did $17.5M (including Wed IMAX trilogy) matching A-M:Q Distribution sources are telling us that Disney Marvel Studios’ final James Gunn movie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, is doing around $14M in previews. As we always say, that can go higher or lower by the morning. Thursday previews kicked off at 3PM, and there were 100 Imax shows on Wednesday. Note, these figures do not come from Disney. Compare to: DS:MOM $36M, T:L&T $29M, BP:WF $28M, A-M:Q $17.5M

    C’mon, everyone knows Deadline is the official box office low baller and they’re at $130M. Deadline lowball secured Filmmaker James Gunn’s Marvel Studios swan song, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, is blasting off this weekend, the de facto start of the summer box office, with an eye at $250M worldwide. Of that, $110M is coming from domestic and $140M from overseas.
