Thanks for looking GOD BLESS ... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) TERMS 1)Shipping to USA is $ 20 for USPS Priority Box( up to 25 raw books), $ 11 for a USPS Priority Flat. 3. That stretch from 28 to 37 is one of my favorites .... The first "old" FF I ever had was #35, I was mesmerized by how the original cover was totally different from the MCIC cover ... and it was an early exposure to the MMMS period letters pages. I was hook, line, and sinker at that point. The coverless ASM 10 I got not long after was, as they say down south. "That was ALL she wrote!". I was a zombie from that point on ... well, until I saw my friend's Famous Funnies 214 ... what was a po' boy to do? GOD BLESS ... -jimbo(a friend of jesus)
  4. 37 was basically a one-and -done. I always admired those ... anybody can string along a never ending drama fest, but it takes a real pro to tie it up each issue. The Skrull Princess story was just a masterpiece to me. I still re-read it to this day. And go ahead and crucify me, I LOVE Chic Stone ... GOD BLESS ... -jimbo(a friend of jesus)
  5. Numbers can also be misleading when tabulating collectibles gains. For example, an item purchased in 1990 for 1K and sold for 2K in 2025 would appear to be a gain of 100%, but when factoring in opportunity cost and inflation, the percentage may be quite a bit lower. GOD BLESS ... -jimbo(a friend of jesus)
  6. Buying collections is a good way to quickly end up needing to rent storage space. It requires some special expertise. GOD BLESS ... -jimbo(a friend of jesus)
  7. You may already know, but she also did a ton of interior stories for several titles. Both credited and uncredited. If you like Kirkpatrick, then you're in for a treat if you like pleasant surprises. Her work will pop up where you least expect it. GOD BLESS ... -jimbo(a friend of jesus)
  8. What they need is a "Light Cream/White" designation. That's exactly what many Dell and Harvey file copies have. They should stop shoving square pegs in round holes, and create designations that fit the reality, rather than trying to force reality into what's handy. One press release and some tweaking to the software and voila, we have a process of continual improvement. GOD BLESS ... -jimb0(a friend of jesus)
  9. @waaaghboss I don't know how many are there, but you might walk in there with a Franklin and walk out @$4 per. Don't be shy. GOD BLESS ... -jimbo(a friend of jesus)
  10. There are definitely opportunities. I see a lot of those Marvel pubs that are tempting. GOD BLESS ... -jimbo(a friend of jesus)
  11. This is exactly what I meant. GPA is also a little threadbare in regards to book specifics, or they were. Many times, an outlier hammers out for a reason, not necessarily because someone was way less intellectually developed than someone else. Sometimes, it actually IS the *ahem* white pages. GOD BLESS ... -jimbo(a friend of jesus)
  12. I would call it gaming if someone bites, or is actually mislead. Luckily most of us are not that obtuse, but I see many sellers, especially on eBay, who seem to conclude that they are the only intelligent person in the room. GOD BLESS ... -jimbo(a friend of jesus)
  13. It's not a quick explanation but a simple one. Seller has a 7.5 for sale. Last 7.5 sold three years ago at $ 1000, while three 7.0s sold in the last three sales for an average of 1350, and two 8.0s averaged at 2500. Buyer insists 900 is the FMV even though both grade increments, above and below, suggest something entirely different. This also applies when the outlier is higher and the seller insists FMV reflects that. People have been manipulating data since it was created. Like I said, I still have GPA, but only use it to see if a GPA quote is accurate when I still occasionally buy. Seller's distort it all the time. GOD BLESS ... -jimbo(a friend of jesus)
  14. The charts in this thread seem to suggest otherwise. It was certainly fun while it lasted. A little more responsibility with the release of product, kind of like the diamond industry, would have gone a long way. GOD BLESS ... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) ...people "game" GPA often in an effort to negotiate a lower price, sometimes scandalously so. I've yet to see it used to negotiate upwards when making that buying decision.
  15. The Weidman is a circle Avon that was actually released twice during that period GOD BLESS ... -jimbo(a friend of jesus)
  16. I doubt Robert has ever had a return. GOD BLESS .... -jimbo(a friend jesus)
  17. You were definitely "Johnny on the Spot" with the PC pedigree. That must have been an exciting few years. GOD BLESS ... -jimbo(a friend of jesus)
  18. ... the elephant in the room .... what benefit is there for an auction house to support a price researching tool that could suggest their bidders should bid less? Not much upside, especially with the profound oversaturation of auctions today. I'm out of comics for the most part, but I do still subscribe to GPA. GOD BLESS ... -jimbo(a friend of jesus)
  19. Many, many record highs occur at Clink, especially in SA areas. GOD BLESS ... -jimbo(a friend of jesus)
  20. Later is, at best, an illusion. Now is what's happening, yo. GOD BLESS ... -jimbo(a friend of jesus)
  21. Also, we often forget that past performance doesn't guarantee future results, but why be a pesky buzz-kill? GOD BLESS ... -jimbo(a friend of jesus)
  22. People should also accept that tier 2 and lesser titles that were published in the BA do not commonly occur in 9.8, and when the occasional example is released, a high price is not necessarily an outlier. Each comic is it's own market, there is no Funny Book Dow Jones, although extrapolations can still be made from sales data. GOD BLESS...
  23. It wasn't so much GPA, which was a new thing then, but the realization by CLink, that the data represented many hours of hard work, and should not be free. That's what I heard... plus the selective option. GOD BLESS ... -jimbo(a friend of jesus)
  24. ... I paid 20 bucks for an FF 5 in very high grade at the same show, wiped out my whole wad. I had to sneak it in the house, as I was afraid my hindparts would have been roasted for spending a month of paper route money on ONE comic. There was also displayed at that show, the first Action 1 that I ever saw in person. The guy was trying to match @Mmehdy record sale of a year or so prior, pricing it at 1800. It was still unsold at the end of the show. You could buy a brand new Ford Mustang for that kind of coin back then. A 10 spot would get snacks and a movie for 4 people with enough left for a large combo Italian Pizza after the show. GOD BLESS ... -jimbo(a friend of jesus)
  25. My best pal, Timmy Leaf, showed me his take from the BX back in '75, and pulled out 2 copies of GSX 1, exclaiming that this Cochran guy was going to be the next Adams, and that I should grab a couple. I passed. Now, before we start thinking that Timmy was some Guru of the unwashed masses, I DID have to talk him into buying his AF 15 in VG @ $30 at a show in the 70's. That, unfortunately, was not enough to qualify me for Guru-dom, as I never got an AF 15, because, as the song says, "Tomorrow Never Comes." GOD BLESS ... -jimbo(a friend of jesus)
