That should certainly help establish the claim...

I would have thought so. They’re looking for stated value with documentation from a reputable source.

i honestly dont think the woman I spoke to knows much about anything. I tried explaining in the best way possible that completed sales are going to give us the best idea of value.

  2. So about a week ago I had a comic of mine stolen. Specifically it was an Action Comics 252 (1st app of Supergirl) CGC 3.5. I’ve done as much as I can to try to find it in the meantime, but have had no such luck. I have since filed a claim through my insurance in hopes to at least recoup some of the value of the book. With that being said, the deductible cuts into it a bit. I had been trying to obtain an appraisal, but it’s been hard seeing how I don’t have the book in hand. I was able to find one person who was willing, but gave a figure of $1050 for the book. In my honest (unprofessional) opinion, I believe that is a bit low. I see the average sale from the last 2 years is $1228, with some copies going for as much as $1450 over that time span. I’m wondering if you guys think I should hold off and try to find to find someone else to appraise it, as the insurance company need some sort of documentation to move forward with the process. Ideally I would like to replace my copy with a decent one, albeit I know it won’t be as nice as the one that was stolen from me. I know there are a lot of vendors on here with professional backgrounds and was wondering if there may be any way that you could generate an appraisal for me, that goes in line with recent comps. I know it’s asking a lot, but I figured it’s worth a shot. Either way, I appreciate all this community has done for my so far. You’ve all shown more support than I could have ever asked for! Thanks in advance for anyone who could possibly help.

i have also attached a pic for reference.

Here are the 5 sales recorded in 2019 by GPAnalysis for your book (you can check out their website by clicking on their name).

I've highlighted the five 2019 sales with a red square.

Good luck on getting compensated for your stolen book.  You can click on the screenshot below for a sharper image.

You've got the CGC registration number-- you should be able to log in to the site and get a record of it.

Current GP on the book in 3.5 is about $1300.

    Thank you guys so much!

  4. I posted on here about a week ago regarding an action comics 252 that was stolen from me. I am trying to see if homeowners will cover it but they’re asking for an appraisal. Well, it’s quite hard to get an appraisal from a comic store when I don’t have the physical copy in hand. With that said, i’m trying to gather as much information as I can about the comic. Gocollect.com seems to have a fair amount of recent sales figures, but l would have to sign up for a full subscription with them. Is there anyone here that would be able to maybe screenshot the image of what the most recent 3.5s have gone. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Any surveillance cameras in the room that may have captured footage of the theft?

And talking to the promoter or other vendors in the room about whether or not you were the only victim of theft that day may be helpful to you both.

Unfortunately the only cameras there are meant for the doors and did not capture anything that occurred in our booth.

  6. My father was setting up at ri comic con and I decided to take a book of mine to show off and low and behold it was stolen. Here is a picture of it if anyone ends up coming across it. It would be greatly appreciated if anyone could offer any assistance. I’m in complete shock right now. I accidentally posted this elsewhere, but figured this would be a better fit with more traffic. Again, any help is greatly appreciated.

I didn't see anything in your other post that wouldn't fit in the Silver bags and boards. I don't think there's an appreciable downside to using Gold bags and boards for everything other than the look of the finished product as well as the fact that more modern books can slosh around in a larger bag. For the small difference in cost, I would just go with Gold for anything that needs it, and Silver bags for everything else. 2c

    Have fun!!

    Thanks, I really appreciate it!

  8. So I have a bunch of comics from all different eras and instead of buying all different size boards and bags, I was thinking about just purchasing only gold era boards and bags to keep costs low. Is It a big no no to store smaller comics in larger board/bags?

    great stuff.

The curling of the board with the Iron Man 55 makes me cringe though

Yeah, I hear you. I’m buying all new bags and boards so it’ll be out of there soon enough. It’s been in this bag long enough where I don’t think it’s gonna make a huge difference if I was a few days to take it out.
