  1. Let me put it this way. I'm interested in a Herb Trimpe wolverine sketch. Now which would you choose, the 9.8 or the 9.4. In my opinion the 9.4 sketch is a millions times nicer than the 9.8. Who would pick the 9.8 over the 9.4 and why?
  2. I share the same opinion, I'm not going to choose a piece of art cause it says 9.8 on it, I'm going to pick the piece of art that I think is nicer. Isn't that what it is all about? Art appreciation?
  3. . I want to hear your opinion and your reasoning. Why do you think 9.8 Jim Lee batman sketches are easily obtainable? You keep saying you can get one from Kwan, however I reached out to him and he doesn't have a Jim Lee batman sketch. The last one he had was a 9.6 and personalized to someone, unfortunately it is no longer available. So again please explain your logic. It isn't like you can just go to your local comic shop and pick up a 9.8 Jim Lee Batman sketch, can you?
  4. Unfortunately there is a market for 9.8 art, I am not naive to it. I'm just trying to get a better understanding of why attention is taking away from the art and importance is placed on the condition of the canvas.
  5. I will try to be a little more clear. If someone gives you an opportunity to purchase a piece of original art created by one of your favorite artists will you a) jump at the opportunity to get a hand drawn sketch if the art speaks to you of course but that is a whole other discussion or b) look at the grade and pass on the art if its not a 9.8? To me I would always choose a piece of art that I thought was cool regardless of the grade the canvas receives. In my opinion these sketch books are just canvases for the artist to create upon.
  6. @ivdyer you must have an incredible collection of sketch covers. Do you have them posted somewhere?
  7. I personally don't even see the graded number, who is even looking up there?
  8. I would never pass on a piece of art if it was below a 9.8 To me its all about what the artist created and if that creation speaks to me. Unfortunately not everyone agrees and people get hung up on the grade of the sketch cover. Let me ask, would you pass on this cause the book is 9.6? I would like to hear the community's thoughts
  9. Special thanks to Turtle on the boards and cgc for creating this forum. Without you guys I don't I would have been able to obtain this....
  10. Here is a pic of it placed in my little display
  11. Not a sketch that was done in 2018, obviously since Mr Romita has retired from drawing. Not sure if this is the right thread but I figured it was appropriate since I acquired it in 2018. I have since placed it in a uv case and glued a upside spiderman figure to the case, lol. I thought it was cool and figured I share
  12. Thanks guys, what about the heavy hitters like John Romita Sr? I would love a spiderman sketch
  13. Thanks for the info, there should be a sales thread just for sketches. I have to search multiple threads??? That's weak
  14. Is there a thread that sells sketch covers? How do you get all these cool sketches done and graded?
