    PICTURE PARADE   #1

    3.5  OW

    Classic Atom Bomb cover.

Foxing and light semi-circle stain (under cloud) brings down the grade. The white line next to the boys belt is a crease and not a tear.

    $275 $240

I'm assuming this was sold ages ago but figured i would ask if it is still around?

I'm in an industry that deals with thousands of manufacturers and suppliers. Every single one of them have dropped multiple price increases since 2020, MOST giving 4-5 increases during 2021 with all of them raising prices effective 01/01/2022. Do I like that CGC has raised prices again?  EFF NO. But we're all lucky it hasn't been higher and more often. Supply chain is broken right now, cost of goods on nearly everything has through the roof. Go ahead and try the "stop submitting" game, best case they raise prices again to offset the loss of income. You'll never shut them down.

Step back, get some perspective and chill.

(All that being said, and true, obviously their qc, tat, etc... issues ABSOLUTELY need to be resolved)

Agreed. I am HVAC wholesale business and the amount of price increases across all manufacturers and suppliers has been extreme. The supply chain is completely in shambles - production, manpower , commodities and transportation. For some items, we have had to raise prices in anticipation of what we will have to pay tomorrow or to cover costs of what we lost on cost increases on product we already sold. . That is not taking into account all the other increases in operating costs.  CGC is not immune to this

  3. I was bidding on some books in tonight's auction and I suddenly got the following error:

Now I can't get back onto the site.

    Error 1006 Ray ID: 3267c41560b6472e • 2017-01-25 00:56:32 UTC

    Access denied

    What happened?

The owner of this website (www.comicconnect.com) has banned your IP address (74.105.7.179).

CloudFlare Ray ID: 3267c41560b6472e • Your IP: 74.105.7.179 • Performance & security by CloudFlare

Anyone else having the same problem?

    Thanks in advance.

I am by no means an expert but ran into something similar years ago on another site. There could be a lot of things going on here, some of them bad -

    - the site could have banned your IP. This is extremely unlikely

    - it looks like you are going through Verizon but are you using a VPN client? That could possibly cause issues. Conversely it could solve your issue temporarily by masking your IP .

    - more likely than anything else is there was too many requests coming from your IP. I am not familiar with Cloudflare but I do know there are settings for websites where they can ban an IP based on a certain number of requests within a specified time frame. This is to protect a site from DOS attacks etc.

    - that means your IP could have exceeded the set threshold and a ban is implemented automatically. Most bans are temporary unless there was some type of history of excessive requests

    - Comic Connect could have a threshold too low or your system or systems using that IP could be infected with some type of virus that is used for DOS. That last part is the really bad part. You may want to do a deep scan for a virus.

Try again , if it was temporary ban then you should be able to get on. I would still do a thorough , up to date virus scan.

  4. 1970's Charlton - Bionic Woman, Six Million Dollar Man , Space 1999

Gold Key Battle of the Planets.

Platinum age Charlie Chaplin ( and many other pre 1920 books.)

    All stuff I buy.

I agree with these, though Space 1999 may be a bit too obscure these days...

I picked up four Charlie Chaplins in a collection last year, and I was surprised at how little they were going for. Forgotten platinum characters like Mutt & Jeff or Moon Mullins going for nothing I can understand, but Chaplin seems different...

Space 1999 is pretty obscure but it seems fervent collectors like myself are willing to pay a lot for the 9.8's . The Chaplin's I just do not understand. I have one of the Chaplin 1917 Funny Stunts en route that the seller accepted 50% of his asking price. Way below guide. I know there is not high demand but these books are very scarce.

  5. I voted No as well. At this point we have one boardie who was impacted and who got a refund.

As regards the timing of this, we went from 8:10PM for an announcement of the intent to have an HOS nomination to a write up and a poll for that HOS nomination 8 minutes later. That is just not how HOS and even PL is done. This process has been in place for years now. The last time I updated the rule list and re-posted it was 7/21/2011.

    Please review the rules here:

    http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=4949997#Post4949997

Personally, I don't see this as an HOS offense since we had one member who ended up being reimbursed and, if I understand right, also got to keep the book? Is that correct?

I agree with Shad. It is not our place to police the comic book world. It is also not our place to act as enforcers for eBay, Amazon or any other venues outside of these boards. Our place is to focus on transactions made between our members.

If a situation occurs, like this one, off the boards on a venue like eBay, we look at as regards to the specific board members involved. In this case one so far, who was reimbursed. For the rest of it, we should be letting the venue such as eBay handle any further disciplinary actions.

Should comic-keys not be in the HOS? He refunded every person I know who caught or questioned his books. Not to mention, I am not sure how many transactions here were actually completed.

Regardless, we are not policing the comic book world. The seller of married covers spoke up here in this community and was a member. That makes him a HOS candidate. If he did not, I would agree with you.

  6. Just got back from seeing this movie. Loved it. REALLY don't get the critics negative response... Was totally the Batman v. Superman that I wanted to see.

I just got back myself, it was a great movie. Critics really just do not get these type of films. To put in context, it's like my girlfriend reviewing Transformers when we saw it together. She was saying some things were stupid , plot hard to follow , blah, blah blah. What she failed to realize ( same as critics) is I went to see cars, trucks and planes transform into robots and fight each other with laser guns. When I go to see Superman VS. Batman, I go to see Superman' might against Batman's brains in a knock down, drag out fight with a crescendo of uniting together with an Amazon against an unstoppable monster .

    Mission accomplished.

  7. Terry accepted an unsolicited offer for something he collects himself , shipped fast and it securely packaged. The books are very difficult to find in high grade and he was gracious in accepting my offer. Recommend completely.

  8. I think some of the criticism here reeks of jealousy. 600 100% feedback rating. 5 star seller ratings. Most of his/her buyers are eBay veterans.

At least there is disclosure of restoration and trimming. I have bought more than a few books off of eBay where the reality is way different than the listing description.

    Cheers, Howard

Give me a break, you have 25 posts and are totally ignorant . Jealousy has nothing to do with it, it has to do with experience and insight.

  9. If the 2-year old E. Gerber half-back shows hardly any change in its surface pH as Mike has aptly demonstrated, then it isn’t absorbing any residual acid that migrates from the pages of the comic book.

That is not true, it means that it is still doing it's job - just like a microchamber not showing any PH change in the same amount of time. It tells me that your board loses it effectiveness much faster than the eGerber. Of course that is not the complete story, they may be a price difference .

  10. For instance, who is Mark Zaid, and why should I as a reader care if he identifies someone as Greg Jortner?

He's one of them shysters. I wouldn't care, or probably even believe, what he says. :gossip:bb

    ;):hi:

I heard he was so tough a lawyer that archeologists unearthed an old english dictionary dating back to the year 900. It defined "total loser" as "one who has faced the legal rage of Zaid . "
